Starships are designed with the Classic Traveller format, using High Guard. |
The Ninz class Scout is a, armed recon starship.
- It is a paramilitary ship and a Scout Vessel.
- It is also known as the Type ZS class Scout.
- The Ninz class Scout is a ship serving with the Zhodani Navy.
Description (Specifications)
It is a vessel with 2-G and J-2 performance with a lifting body wedge hull.
- It carries very light armament and a military grade defensive suite.
- It ordinarily carries no subcraft nor drones.
- It has a 3 sophont crew and no marines.
The Ninz-class Scout is an exploratory vessel, uses a 100-ton streamlined hull, and is primarily intended to be operated in times of war by the Zhodani Navy. It is used extensively for patrols, and it has an armored hull to prolong its life in battle.
The Ninz sports the Chiata A/2 jump drive, the Biafrchtev-mA/2 maneuver drive, and the Bonzhtlensh Chezzhdiakl-A power plant, and is capable of Jump-2 and 2-G acceleration. Fuel tankage of 22 tons supports 28 days of operations and one Jump-2. On the bridge is a computer Model/2. There are seven staterooms and no low berths. The ship has a triple turret installed, bearing missile launchers. There is one ship's vehicle: an air/raft. Cargo capacity is 5.0 tons.
This Zhodani Scout Vessel requires a crew of three: pilot/astrogator/engineer, medic if passengers and a gunner if armed. The ship can carry up to five additional personnel, depending on function and other requirements.

Details: The bridge, with positions for two (only one is needed), is located in the bow. A sunken turret is just aft. The stateroom shared by the regular crew, featuring two single beds and a head, is located abaft the bridge on the starboard side of the ship. The airlock, including a ship's locker, and a double stateroom for passengers are also on the port side.
The starboard side holds the wardroom/galley and three more passenger staterooms. A corridor leads aft to the engineering spaces, which can be monitored from stand-up control consoles.
Basic Ship Characteristics
Following the Imperial Navy and IISS Universal Ship Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (...of ten subcraft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (...thousands of tons) where necessary. History & Background (Dossier)
Comments: A recent version of a time-honored ship design, the Ninz class is equivalent to the Imperial Type S Scout in construction and employment. The Ninz was specifically designed for military scouting duties and is often encountered as part large battle fleets or, less frequently, attached to independent scout squadrons. Some are also found operating individually, engaged in passenger transfers, courier service, survey operations, or intelligence gathering missions. The ship is also used extensively in patrols, where excellent long-range armament and an armored hull enable the ship to survive long enough to escape and report back to the main body.
Exact figures are unavailable, but there are probably several thousand Type S equivalent scouts in Zhodani service, with the Ninz class accounting for perhaps 20% of that total.
Class Naming Practice/s & Peculiarities
Vessel Peculiarities: The Ninz class is a cramped, utilitarian vessel. Bunk beds in the passenger staterooms and the lack of any recreational space outside the tiny wardroom make it see even more crowded than it really is, especially with a full complement.
Class Naming Practice/s: Ships of the class appear to be named after famous admirals of the Zhodani Navy.
