Neave is a low-population vacuum world, with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size, warranting hazardous environment precautions.
- Life in a vacuum requires great discipline. After all, it only takes one forgotten seal on a vacuum suit to spell death. Those who survive tend to be very methodically-minded and attentive to small detail.
- It is a member of the Dependent Worlds in the Cradle Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

Kublan-Neave System
The primary is Kublan, a dim red subdwarf star. It has a luminosity of 0.00103 Sols, a mass of 0.081 Sols, and a diameter of 109,000 km. (I) a thin atmosphere radworld, (II) Velis, a very thin atmosphere radworld: (IIa) Neave is its only satellite and is designated the mainworld, (III) a corrosive atmosphere bigworld, (IV) a vacuum iceworld and (V) a dense icy planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
(II) Velis
(II) Velis (UWP Y323000-0) is categorised as a radworld and orbits Kublan at a mean distance of 0.39 AU (58.4 million km), within the outer zone. It has an orbital period of 183 days 16 hours and a rotation period of 15.5 hours. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Velis has a diameter 4,788 km, a density of 4.49 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.31 G. The world is geologically very active. Its atmosphere is rated as Very Thin, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.25 bar and a composition of 93% nitrogen (N2), 6% abiotic oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by the very low percentage of atmospheric oxygen and the high levels of background radiation: emission rates exceed 50 rads per hour. Approximately 31% of the surface is covered in sheets of water-ice. Mean surface temperature: –121°C. The atmosphere is sluggish and weak weather systems driven by the star drift across the globe. The climate is seasonal.
Mainworld Data
(IIa) Neave
(IIa) Neave is the only satellite of Velis and is designated the mainworld. It orbits its parent world at a mean distance of 35 diameters (167,500 km), with an orbital period of 6 days 5 hours: it is tidally locked to Velis. The axial tilt is 2 degrees relative to Velis. Neave has a diameter 1,016 km, a density of 3.98 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.06 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Velis cause occasional geological activity. The atmosphere is rated as Vacuum. The world has no hydrosphere. Mean surface temperature: -143°C.
