Narsil is an industrial world with a tainted atmosphere. The system has a population over one billion. It is a member of Sword Worlds Confederation in the Sword Worlds Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector and in the Sword Worlds. This world supports a Sword Worlds Military Base and the system supports a Sword Worlds Naval Base.
Astrography & Planetology
Narsil is a member of the Spinward Main.
Narsil is an unusual planet, orbiting a rare M0 II giant star. Isildur was once a typical F7 V main sequence star, but about 1,500,000 years ago it started fusing helium in its core. The star then expanded far into its inner system and became much more luminous.
Any rocky planets Isildur once had are incinerated or nearly molten, but many of the icy bodies in the outer system have melted in the new sunlight. Until this time, Narsil was merely a frozen ball of gas, water, and rock, in an eccentric orbit that took it between 80 and 120 AU from the star. Suddenly, Narsil was in Isildur’s new habitable zone. The surface around the equator melted, creating a central ocean that has been slowly growing ever since with Isildur’s increasing heat.

History & Background (Dossier)
Narsil has long been the industrial powerhouse of the Sword Worlds, a status that will be difficult to keep in the wake of the new wave of environmentalism. Among the population, crowded into dirty cities, there is a great deal of ill-feeling about the environmental laws. If the factories close or change their labor-intensive, wasteful policies, then there will be mass unemployment. The populace would apparently rather suffer unbreathable air, ill health and perhaps an early death than lose their jobs. The rising tide of resentment has led to vandalism and violence on the streets. The formation of a special police force as part of the military has led to a lamentable sentients’ rights record, and breeds more violence. The question is not if Narsil’s society is going to rip itself apart, but when.
