Using a 400-ton hull, the Subsidised Merchant (also called the Fat Trader) is a trading vessel intended to meet the commercial needs of clusters of worlds. The Type R Subsidised Merchant can be encountered in a wide variety of roles, though by far the commonest is a no-frills, low-cost small cargo ship on jump-1 local routes.

Referee's Aid 7: Type-R Subsidised Merchant provides an in-depth look at one of the most common ships in Known Space. It walks you through every aspect of the Subsidised Merchant, with all new 3D deck plans, and provides specific vessels to be used in encounters.

If you are looking to flesh out the ship many players traverse the galaxy in, look no further.
