Early History

Million, originally designated District 167, first saw settlement by pro-imperial colonists via the Atsah Subsector in 80. Some Gvegh Vargr exiles and traders had been using the subsector for safety, and for trading with the Souggvuez, since -300. Aekhu Vargr settlements started around -150. Vargr resistance and the lack of systems on the Trailing edge of Million dissuaded imperial colonization efforts from Khouth Subsector in Corridor Sector.

By 100, there was a substantial Vargr state, Ksekgizoksdhaerzluenoe, based in the subsector comprising Unekh (Deneb 2603), Talon (Deneb 2704), Akkip (Deneb 2804), Fel (Deneb 2904), Ikhaba (Deneb 2905), Oluk Dzas (Deneb 3004) and Aerfor (Deneb 3104) [1]. (See maps above).

This state had divided into two by 210. Unekh (Deneb 2603) and Talon (Deneb 2704) managed to also control Fosfog (Deneb 2702) and formed one half; Fel (Deneb 2904) and Aerfor (Deneb 3104) had split away (as the Sandherroerghdoe Kaefoulto) and now controlled Arleshanu (Deneb 3005), Nurara (Deneb 2906), Hammand (Deneb 2907) and Oluk Dzas (Deneb 3004). [2]. (See maps above).

Vargr Campaigns to the First Civil War

The Million Subsector was impacted by the Vargr Campaigns (220-348). Fosfog (Deneb 2702) was outside the most impacted area and managed to hang on to 495-524 (Deneb 2802) and Metare (Deneb 2903) (in the state now named the Kloellnugdhungkidztse) as an Imperial Ally, but all other Vargr states in the subsector were destroyed to prevent the formation of significant Corsair fleets. [3]. The subsector is declared Corsair Free in 285[4]. (See maps above).

By 420, this state had added Fel (Deneb 2904)[5] to its trade grouping. This group was, ultimately, destroyed during the Imperial anti-Corsair actions of the First Frontier War. (See maps above).

Million was admitted into the Imperium in 400 except Aerfor (Deneb 3104) (admitted in 440 and then left out again later) and Ikhaba (Deneb 2905) and Arleshanu (Deneb 3005) which were admitted in 592, during the First Frontier War (589-604). (See maps above).

During the Second Frontier War about half of the Subsector's Imperial Navy Fleet is used by Arbellatra to support her campaigns in the Spinward Marches Sector. This sees much of the Subsector invaded by Vargr - None of the governments is replaced, but there is serious fighting (See IY 616 map above) on all those invaded. The Marquis of Million organises the remaining Imperial Navy vessels, local merchants (acting as Privateers) and ships loaned from the Duchy of Atsah plus locally raised troops and Mercenaries hired from Corridor Sector to repel these invaders[6].

After the First Civil War

While there is no Count or Duke in Million, the subsector does have a Marquis with a seat in Taproban (Deneb 3008). The Marquis of Million has many of the powers normally associated with an Imperial Count and is a liege of the Emperor directly. Several strong Vargr worlds survive in Million, including Aerfor (Deneb 3104), an Imperial Client State, and Talon (Deneb 2704) and Fel (Deneb 2904), which were members of the United Followers of Augurgh, a small Vargr interstellar federation that existed from the 1090s to the 1140s.

Second Civil War

The Dzarrgh Federate took advantage of the withdrawal of Corridor Fleet in 1117 to occupy neighbouring Khouth Subsector and also occupied the Imperial Client State Aerfor (Deneb 3104). By 1120 they had pushed along the Atsah Cluster to the point that the Regency Navy was no longer able/willing to contest the claim to the trivially populated Olokono (Deneb 3110).

The United Followers of Augurgh also expanded, but kept out of Imperial space. 495-524 (Deneb 2802), Akkip (Deneb 2804) and Metare (Deneb 2903) were non-aligned worlds[7] in 1116 - by 1120, Akkip and Metare were full fledged member worlds and 495-524 was being subdued[8]. This latter world was a running sore for the UFA for the remainder of it's existence as the Droyne residents opposed the occupation - with help from off-world Kroyloss.

Following the decision to Abandon Million in 1131, Arleshanu (Deneb 3005), Nurara (Deneb 2906), Hammand (Deneb 2907), Crozat (Deneb 2910), Taproban (Deneb 3008) were emptied completely and their bases slighted. Olokono (Deneb 3110) was also evacuated by 61st Fleet from under the noses of the Dzarrgh Federate. Gabrael (Deneb 2807), Tensas (Deneb 2810) and Ikhaba (Deneb 2805) were partially evacuated along with many thousands of refugees from those parts of the Corridor Sector under the Dzarrgh Federate, Irrgh Manifest and others. The Illicit Doom Trade, however, was apt to drop new settlers on newly evacuated planets because they appeared safer than the worlds from which those refugees were fleeing, or because they just couldn't be bothered to take the refugees as far as they wanted to go and weren't so ruthless as to just space them[9]. Some of these re-settlements survived.

Abandonment and After

Following the Abandonment, the Million Subsector was completely outside the regency border, and not even the Regency Frontier extended into this subsector. However, it was patrolled by squadrons of the 61st Fleet and 125th Fleet, based respectively in the neighbouring Antra and Namidshur subsectors[10].

The United Followers of Augurgh remained as a viable political entity immediately after the abandonment, accepting and channelling refugees until the Khouth Cluster succumbed to Virus and the Dzarrgh Federate fell in the late-1130s/early-1140s. It too succumbed in 1143. Between 1143 and 1200, 99.999% of all Souggvuez on their homeworld, Talon (Deneb 2704) died[11], utterly transforming the culture of this world.

In parallel with arrival of the Virus came the Red Pelts[12]. These Suedzuk Vargr raided the subsector until their destruction in the mid/late-1140s at the hands of the 61st Fleet with 125th Fleet support.
