Metalmite is the common name for several unrelated metal-eating microbes found in asteroids fields.

Diet & Trophics[edit]
Metalmite are chemotrophs, who feed on the metallic asteroids in a planetoid belt. They have also been known to infest, and ingest, the hulls of starships that have not taken precautions against them.
