- Humaniti (Human Races)
- Vilani. Within the Matzen sector there are c.35 billion people who claim decent from the original Vilani settlers in the sector. These people live predominantly within the Vilani Protectorate and still maintain a lifestyle that Vilani within the Third Imperium would recognise. It should be noted though that Vilani in Matzen do differ as almost 10,000 years of evolution has occurred and in many ways the culture of Matzen Vilani is different from those found within the Third Imperium.
- Non-Human Races
- Aslan. The Aslan only arrived in the sector some 800 years ago, however they did arrive en masse and have rapidly expanded their influence in the sector. With c.43 billion Aslan in the sector they are a major racial faction, however, their strength in numbers is split across 3 seperate clan enterprises and as such this does weaken their "voice" somewhat. It should also be noted that many Aslan make their homes on non-aligned worlds forging their own way in this massively unexploited region of the galaxy.
