A Main World is a sociological and planetological term for the one world within a star system on which sophont habitation is centered. The Main World is the single most important world in a system. [1]

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Main world in most systems is located in the Habitable Zone. When that orbit is occupied by a Gas Giant the world may be a satellite. If the main world is an asteroid belt, or has Vacuum or Exotic Atmosphere, the world may be in any orbit. [2]

However, some species such as Jovionoids are known to dwell on gas giants, which are typically well out of the Habitable Zone.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Some systems may have more than one "center" of habitation, which is another way of saying that there may be two or more habitable planets with strong civilizational development. While in most cases, one of those multiple worlds in a system may take preeminence, it is possible for two or more worlds within one systems to equally and equitably share power as a single, unified polity.

In many older documents, they are called Best Worlds.
