[[Low Passage]] is transportation while in [[Cold sleep|cold sleep]] (suspended animation). It is available at relatively low cost to the [[passenger]].

Unfortunately, the low passage system involves some intrinsic dangers to the passenger, and the passenger runs some risk of not surviving the voyage. Refunds or civil liability if a low passenger fails to survive the trip are not allowed. Putting a [[sophont]] into [[cold sleep]] or taking them out of it can vary greatly by the skill of the operator and the actual type and [[technology level]] of the [[device]]. Some manufacturers make decidedly better or worse low berths. Some went low bidder and are noticeably unreliable and dangerous even by the odds of a [[device]] with a survival lottery.
