Lomodo is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by indigenous Sophonts located in the Alpha Subsector of Theta Borealis Sector.

Description (Astrography & Planetology)

Lomodo is a binary star system.

  • Both are yellow main sequence stars.

System Data

The worlds of the system have been surveyed. They consist of:

Mainworld Data

The mainworld orbits within the star's Habitable Zone.

  • It lies within the zones prime H region.
  • It receives moderate levels of stellar energy.

Mainworld Size (S)

Lomodo is a Meso World between 10,400km and 12,000km in diameter. The world has a standard gravity between 0.7G and 0.9G. The horizon will appear about 4.7km away.

Mainworld Atmosphere (A)

Lomodo has an exotic atmosphere consisting of nitrogen (86%), oxygen (13%), and significant traces of sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and other gases (1%).

  • The mean surface pressure is around 0.97 bar.
  • Humans require a full face breathing mask and oxygen tanks, but protective suits are not necessary.

Mainworld Hydrosphere (H)

Lomodo has 55-65% of its surface covered by liquid water. It has significant large liquid bodies. Wilderness refueling is possible.

  • The world's waters contain significant pollutants that make it toxic to humans.

History & Background (Dossier)

Comp-Prog-Dav-R-Deitrick-Starter-Trav-Page-16 16-July-2018a.jpg

Lomodo was home to three different species of sophont, the Osp, the Byl and the Irf. While the Osp continue to flourish on the planet the Byl and the Irf apparently wiped each other out in a recently ended war that lasted for over 200 years.

  • The communities built by both the Byl and the Irf lay in ruins over many of the plains of the planet.
  • Once the Byl and the Irf had wiped each other out, the Osp were able to colonize large portions of the planet.

Due to the exotic nature of Lomodo Iva’s atmosphere and its remoteness from Imperial and Zhodani space, little is known of the one surviving species. However, it is noted that the Osp have taken to salvaging and using basic tools found in the ruins of the other two species.

The planet is open and not aliened with any interstellar polity, ships may land where they please and conduct trade with the Osp, if they can figure out how, or perhaps exploit the resources of the planet as they see fit.

World Starport (St)

Lomodo IVA has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

  • Lomodo has no official starport.
  • No restrictions are placed on surface landings.

World Demographics (P)

Lomodo has a population of 8 million Osp

Urbanization

The ruins of large urban centers are surrounded by the remains of smaller satellite communities.

  • Ruins are dotted across the world.
  • None of the ruins are inhabited.
  • It possesses no remaining infrastructure.
  • Large regions of the surface of the world remain as wilderness.

World Technology Level (T)

Lomodo IVA possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.
  • While the Osp are still only at tech level 0 the Byl and the Irf where much higher, reaching early TL–4 when they mutually wiped each other out. However, much of that equipment and infrastructure has been destroyed by the elements over the last several centuries, as no-one has done anything to preserve or maintain it.

World Government (G)

Lomodo IVA is governed by a Feudal Technocracy. Society divides itself based on the technical requirements of the society. Each of these functions are granted as a fief to an individual or group. Leadership of these fiefs determines the head of the government.

World Military

Approximately 2 million warrior-hunters.

  • Warriors are loyal to a particular clan or tribe.

World Law (L)

Lomodo IVA has no law in practice. It is an Anarchy. On many worlds, this by itself justifies an Amber Zone advisory. There are few laws, covering only important areas. There may be few or no law enforcement officers, the expectation is citizens will bring law breakers to the attention of the Judicial system. Legal proceedings will be fast, with few people involved. For interactions outside of the framework of the laws, cultural norms dominate.

Trade Data

  • Importance: -3 (very unimportant)

World Economy

  • Resources: 8 (moderate)
  • Labor: 5 (hundreds of thousands)
  • Infrastructure: 1 (extremely limited)
  • Efficiency: -5 (extremely poor)

World Culture

  • Homogeneity: 1 (monolithic)
  • Acceptance: 3 (xenophobic)
  • Strangeness: 1 (very typical)
  • Symbols: 3 (very concrete)
