Lishun Sector is a very old center of Imperial settlement with an extremely high stellar density. Interestingly enough, the area never bred a Imperial Cultural Region or its own strongly distinct culture.

Meta-History & Background

Lishun Sector was originally designed by Marc W. Miller and appears in the Classic Traveller Atlas of the Imperium (GDW, 1984).

  1. In 1984, Classic Traveller Vargr (Alien Module) was published.
  2. In 1986, the periodical The Travellers' Digest No. 6 was published.
    1. It was further refined by Joe D. Fugate Sr., and portions appear in The Travellers Digest, The Flaming Eye (DGP, 1991) and Challenge Magazine.
  3. In 1990, MegaTraveller Alien - Vilani & Vargr was published.
  4. In 1991, MegaTraveller The Flaming Eye was published.
  5. In 1996, Marc Miller's Traveller T4 First Survey was published.

  • As of Summer 2017, this sector is slowly programmed into the Traveller RPG Wiki.
  • It has been T5 Second Survey reviewed and updated to T5 standards.

Description (Specifications)

The area has a remarkably stable and uniform culture for many, many centuries. And this stability has been despite a very diverse and polycentric culture and several Minor Human Race and Minor Non-Human Races as well as a very large concentration of Imperial Vargr. Some attribute the uniformity and stability to Vilani influences. It has old, old Vilani settlements. Curiously enough, it appears that the region was once a Droyne stronghold even though no major population of Droyne have dwelled in the area for more than a millennium. Some suspect the hidden presence of Chirpers.

History & Background (Dossier)

Vargr legend has it that the area was a Vargr colony more than eighteen centuries ago. There isn't conclusive evidence of Vargr habitation going back that far and the area has been an Imperial stronghold for over a millennium. Interstellar trade in the region is quite rich. Traders as far as K'kree, Zhodani, and Hiver space regularly traverse the region.

The First Imperium conquered the area several millennia ago, but never fully subdued the area. Vargr corsairs still roamed the spaceways for many centuries after the Vilani first entered the area. Some say they still attacked merchants for over a millenium after the arrival of the Vilani. Eventually the local Vargr adapted to Vilani folkways and became great interstellar merchants. The rites of passage once associated with a wild and unruly youth with the corsairs, became re-associated with joining one of the great mercantile houses. Lishunian Vargr have notably different temperaments than most other Vargr, much more easily socializing with Imperial Vargr and Vilani humans.
