The rank of Leading Sergeant (E7) is the non-commissioned officer rank in the Imperial Army for the second most senior non-commissioned officer in an Imperial Army Company.

Description (Specifications)

Each Company in the Imperial Army has one Leading Sergeant who is the second most senior Sergeant in the unit. Some Imperial Army Regimental (and above) staff appointments are also for Leading Sergeants.

These NCOs may also be known as First Sergeant.

History & Background (Dossier)

The term sergeant refers to a non-commissioned officer placed above the rank of a corporal. The term leading sergeant thus refers to their being one of the chief of these sergeants within the company.

Historically, these Sergeants were responsible for ensuring the troops of the company were accommodated, fed and equipped. They still have part of this role. As a consequence they may be known as the Quartermaster Sergeant.
