The Latkoora are a Minor Non-Human Race with a non-humanoid appearance and are technologically sophisticated sophonts who serve as clients to the K'kree.

Description (Specifications)

The Latkoora are a large land-dwelling mammaloid sophont race. They possess six limbs which function for both locomotion and manipulation. Built for savannah life, they appear very much like a Terran ungulate such as a small water buffalo, but possessing an additional central set of legs. They also possess a functional pair of horns that grow throughout their lifetime, and of which they are usually quite proud. Their six legs all end in heavy and clumsy four-fingered hands, and all six limbs are jointed to allow considerable motion, while also having the ability to lock the joints and adopt a rapid running gait. The Latkoora do not sit comfortably without something to lean on, preferring to stand in most cases. Their coloration varies but is usually brown, tan, black or grey. The Latkoora are fully herbivorous, and are a trusted, if limited, K'kree client as a result. No further information yet available.

History & Background (Dossier)

The Latkoora were pre-technological when contacted during the Crusade. The K'kree found them almost accidentally, when military officers among the landing teams noticed the local "herd animals" reacting to their presence with precise defensive formations and more attention on the weaponry of the K'kree than on the K'kree themselves. The Latkoora still talk about this with great amusement thousands of years later. The Latkoora are distinct in having invented shoes, orthotics, and cushions before conceiving of the wheel, due to their anatomy. Once introduced to other races and their technology, their own progress became a source of pride and amusement. The psychology of the Latkoora is quite different from their patrons, the K'kree, entirely lacking both the mandatory herd instinct and the fear of enclosed spaces, and having little fear of potential predators. This contrast also amuses them. The Latkoora are, perhaps, easily amused.

Astrography

The Latkoora rarely leave their homeworld, though they have earned enough trust and technology from the K'kree to do so. Ships specifically fitted for the Latkoora are not easily used by others, though they can make use of K'kree ships. This race is primarily located in the following areas:
