Description (Specifications)

The Khouth Subsector is defended by 30th Fleet  and the 31st Fleet.
There was an IISS Exploration Office Way Station at Desolate

Subsector Summary: 1105

Khouth, subsector A of Corridor contains 30 worlds with an estimated population of 66 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,442, and a total economy is BCr426,309. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr450 through 26 starports (5 Class A, 9 Class B, 9 Class C, 3 Class D) employing 96,890 people. Driving this interstellar trade are one Agricultural (Ag) world, four Non-Agricultural (Na) worlds, one Pre-Agricultural (Pa) world, four Pre-Industrial (Pi) worlds, one Rich (Ri) world, and two Industrial (In) worlds. The governments in Khouth maintain seven Naval bases, six Scout bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 11). The highest technology level is 13 at Khouth (Corridor 0104) and Mikesh (Corridor 0206).

Khouth, subsector A of Corridor contains 40 stars and 312 identified planets; 20 monostellar systems, ten binary systems, no trinary systems, and no systems with four or more stars. 23 of the 30 systems (76%) have native gas giants. There are two Asteroid (As) belts, two Desert (De) worlds, no Garden (Ga) worlds, one Ice-capped (Ic) world, five Poor (Po) worlds, four Vacuum (Va) worlds, and one Water (Wa) or Ocean (Oc) world.

Khouth has an estimated population of 66 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 15 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, eight Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Mikesh (Corridor 0206). The population consists of 2 sophont groups.

2 identified sophont populations in Khouth

Third Imperium

The Third Imperium has jurisdiction over 28 worlds with an estimated population of 66 billion, a per capita income of Cr6,446, and a total economy of BCr426,265. These worlds originate an interstellar trade of BCr450 through 24 starports (4 Class A, 9 Class B, 9 Class C, 2 Class D) employing 96,875 people. The governments in the Third Imperium maintain seven Naval bases, six Scout bases, and one Way station. The average technology level is 9 (with most between 6 and 11). The highest technology level is 13 at Khouth (Corridor 0104) and Mikesh (Corridor 0206).

The Third Imperium has an estimated population of 66 billion distributed across two High population (Hi) worlds, three Moderate population (Ph) worlds, 14 Non-industrial (Ni) worlds, eight Low population (Lo) worlds, and no Barren (Ba) worlds. The highest population world is Mikesh (Corridor 0206). The population consists of 2 sophont groups.

Non-Aligned, Vargr-dominated

There are two Non-Aligned Vargr-dominated worlds in Khouth with an estimated population of 50 million.

First Imperium and Rule of Man

The Khouth Subsector was not part of the First Imperium. Some Vilani settlers moved into the subsector at the start of the Rule of Man to avoid the Solomani upstarts.

Long Night and Foundation of the Third Imperium

Khouth, Gase A, Dirge Iim and Kiidga Aark were the largest populations in the subsector at the furthest edge of serious refugee flight from the old First Imperium. Mikesh and Uurguunamki were following on behind. Astonishingly, despite the presence of the Vargr all around, all were almost exclusively Vilani settled worlds. Khouth, Gase A and Dirge Iim were all major industrial worlds formed into an interstellar trading partnership backed by considerable military defences. They initially welcomed the appearance of the Imperium, especially its traders.

Vargr Campaigns to the start of the Civil War

Khouth was a major Imperial base and contributor to the Vargr Campaigns. Dirge Iim was a major supporter of the Vargr. Kiidga Aark, and Uurguunamki were all but depopulated in this war and had to be resettled thereafter. Few worlds came out of the Vargr Campaigns unscathed.

Gase A was integrated into the Imperium in a brutal assault by the Imperial Marines and others in 379. Gase A was renamed Serk in 480 when it was granted Independence within the Imperium (This is still effectively governed from the Subsector capital through its puppet regime).

Civil War and after

The Vargr made use of the Civil War to stage raids into the Subsector.

Golden Age

The presence of the 30th and 31st Fleets, combined with the presence of relatively stable Vargr polities (Dzarrgh Federate and Irrgh Manifest) in the neighbouring Lighoz Subsector kept the Khouth Subsector stable and peaceful over this period.

The New Era (Click Show to reveal)

The Khouth Subsector has an estimated population in 1202 of approximately 635.6 million, a decline of 99% from its Pre-Collapse population. Its highest population is 594.6 million at Serk, and its highest tech level is 7 at Ofo-Nebus, Hesarus, Auritaurus and Gzorraeth. The Khouth Subsector had an estimated population in 1117 of approximately 71.91 billion. Its highest population was 65.8 billion at Mikesh (Corridor 0206), and its highest tech level was 13 at Khouth (Corridor 0104).

The withdrawal of the 30th Fleet and 31st Fleet to the imperial core as part of the Corridor Fleet move per orders received 221-1117 left the Khouth Subsector open to invasion by Vargr opportunists. The Dzarrgh Federate and Irrgh Manifest immediately took advantage of the lack of opposition, dividing the subsector between them - literally down the centre. The Regency of Deneb staged various manoeuvres across the subsector in 1118 in the attempt to recover Depot (Corridor 1511) but the clash with New Ziru Sirka forces at Durima (Corridor 1205) in early 1119 effectively ended that phase of the war.

This subsector fared relatively well when the initial onslaught of Virus hit the subsector at Caulins Belt (Corridor 0307) in 1137. The Abandonment of the neighbouring Million Subsector between 1133 and 1136, and several advance reports of the attacks in the rimward Imperium had given many of the inhabitants of Khouth enough time to pack their belongings and "get out of Dodge." Unfortunately, there simply weren't enough ships in the region to safely deliver everyone to the safety of the Domain of Deneb. Those who remained have been subjected to decades of death, destruction and subjugation at the hands of Virus. 94% of the subsector's surviving population are the Vargr of Serk, whose advanced civil defense mechanism enabled more people to survive. Serk serves as a clandestine forward base of The Pack in the New Era. Imperial Vargr skirting the Regency quarantine laws sent recon teams to Serk to evaluate future potential resettlement of the wilds and exploitation of the riches therein.
