This is a border region between the [[Third Imperium]] and the [[Vargr Extents]]. Systems within 2-4 parsecs of the border are heavily patrolled, and flag-showing forays on both sides of the border are common. Capital ships detached from the sector fleet are quite often used for this purpose, an unusual move which serves as a strong reminder of Imperial power. Despite this, raids by corsairs are still quite common, with local Vargr states denying any involvement.

The [[Khouth Subsector]] was not part of the [[First Imperium]]. Some [[Vilani]] settlers moved into the subsector at the start of the [[Rule of Man]] to avoid the [[Solomani]] upstarts.

[[Khouth (world)|Khouth]], [[Serk (world)|Gase A]], [[Rrev Rigr (world)|Dirge Iim]] and [[Tsetsurri (world)|Kiidga Aark]] were the largest populations in the [[Khouth Subsector|subsector]] at the furthest edge of serious refugee flight from the old [[First Imperium]]. [[Mikesh (world)|Mikesh]] and [[Aka Gee (world)|Uurguunamki]] were following on behind. Astonishingly, despite the presence of the [[Vargr]] all around, all were almost exclusively [[Vilani]] settled worlds. [[Khouth (world)|Khouth]], [[Serk (world)|Gase A]] and [[Rrev Rigr (world)|Dirge Iim]] were all major industrial worlds formed into an interstellar trading partnership backed by considerable military defences. They initially welcomed the appearance of the {{Imperium}}, especially its traders.

[[Khouth (world)|Khouth]] was a major {{Imperial}} base and contributor to the [[Vargr Campaigns]]. [[Rrev Rigr (world)|Dirge Iim]] was a major supporter of the [[Vargr]]. [[Tsetsurri (world)|Kiidga Aark]], and [[Aka Gee (world)|Uurguunamki]] were all but depopulated in this war and had to be resettled thereafter. Few worlds came out of the [[Vargr Campaigns]] unscathed.

[[Serk (world)|Gase A]] was integrated into the {{Imperium}} in a brutal assault by the [[Imperial Marines]] and others in [[379]]. [[Serk (world)|Gase A]] was renamed [[Serk (world)|Serk]] in [[480]] when it was granted ''Independence'' within the {{Imperium}} (This is still effectively governed from the [[Subsector]] capital through its puppet regime).

The [[Vargr]] made use of the [[Civil War]] to stage raids into the [[Khouth Subsector|Subsector]].

The presence of the [[30th Fleet|30th]] and [[31st Fleet|31st Fleets]], combined with the presence of relatively stable [[Vargr]] [[Polity|polities]] ([[Dzarrgh Federate]] and [[Irrgh Manifest]]) in the neighbouring [[Lighoz Subsector]] kept the [[Khouth Subsector]] stable and peaceful over this period.

The [[Khouth Subsector]] has an estimated population in [[1202]] of approximately 635.6 million, a decline of 99% from its Pre-[[Collapse]] population. Its highest population is 594.6 million at [[Serk (world)|Serk]], and its highest [[tech level]] is 7 at [[Ofo-nebus (world)| Ofo-Nebus]], [[Hesarus (world)| Hesarus]], [[Auritaurus (world)| Auritaurus]] and [[Gzorraeth (world)| Gzorraeth]]. The Khouth Subsector had an estimated population in [[1117]] of approximately 71.91 billion. Its highest population was 65.8 billion at {{WorldS|Mikesh|Corridor|0206}}, and its highest tech level was 13 at {{WorldS|Khouth|Corridor|0104}}. 

The withdrawal of the [[30th Fleet]] and [[31st Fleet]] to the imperial core as part of the [[Corridor Fleet]] move per orders received 221-[[1117]] left the [[Khouth Subsector]] open to invasion by [[Vargr]] opportunists. The [[Dzarrgh Federate]] and [[Irrgh Manifest]] immediately took advantage of the lack of opposition, dividing the subsector between them - literally down the centre. The [[Regency of Deneb]] staged various manoeuvres across the subsector in [[1118]] in the attempt to recover {{WorldS|Depot|Corridor|1511}} but the clash with [[New Ziru Sirka]] forces at {{WorldS|Durima|Corridor|1205}} in early [[1119]] effectively ended that phase of the war.

This subsector fared relatively well when the initial onslaught of [[Virus]] hit the subsector at {{WorldS|Caulins Belt|Corridor|0307}} in [[1137]]. The [[Abandonment]] of the neighbouring [[Million Subsector]] between [[1133]] and [[1136]], and several advance reports of the attacks in the [[rimward]] [[Imperium]] had given many of the inhabitants of Khouth enough time to pack their belongings and "get out of Dodge." Unfortunately, there simply weren't enough ships in the region to safely deliver everyone to the safety of the [[Domain of Deneb]]. Those who remained have been subjected to decades of death, destruction and subjugation at the hands of [[Virus]]. 94% of the subsector's surviving population are the [[Vargr]] of [[Serk (world)|Serk]], whose advanced civil defense mechanism enabled more people to survive. [[Serk (world)|Serk]] serves as a clandestine forward base of [[The Pack]] in the New Era. {{Imperial}} [[Vargr]] skirting the [[Regency]] quarantine laws sent recon teams to [[Serk (world)|Serk]] to evaluate future potential resettlement of the wilds and exploitation of the riches therein.
