Khinumi has both a thin tainted atmosphere and no surface water which makes habitation by sophonts difficult. The system has a population between 10,000 and a million, lacking the industrial base to be completely self-supporting. It is a member of Third Imperium in the Nulinad Subsector of Empty Quarter Sector and in the Domain of Antares. Khinumi, as a member world of the Third Imperium, holds the estate of an Imperial knight, a member of the Imperial Nobility charged with overseeing the world. Less than 10% of the world's population is the Minor Race Bwap.

Mainworld Data
Khinumi V, a gas giant in the Khinumi system. A small colony, Sunset Aura, is maintained within the gas giant’s breathable atmosphere – officially under the flag of the Baron of Khinumi, but really run as a joint venture of the megacorporations Makhidkarun and Tukera Lines.
Once upon a time, the gas giant was famous for its breathable layer of atmosphere: even Emperor Anguistus (reigned 326-365) publicly declared that colonizing such worlds would be the future of the Imperium, and the Ministry of Colonization has an entire department to handle gas giant terraforming and colonization. But in the end, the costs rose to astronomical heights while unexpected difficulties just kept on building on top of each other, with the entire project forgotten by the early 400s Imperial.

Settled by Vilani colonists late in the First Imperium, Khinumi’s culture changes significantly with a second wave of settlers during the Solomani expansion of the Rule of Man. Sadly, the world never fully recovered from the collapse of the Long Night.
