Joseph Subsector is a long-settled region, but one that is economically underdeveloped.

  • The resources of the subsector are largely untapped.
  • There is regular trade and commerce.

Astrographic Features & Trade Routes: 1105[edit]

The following astrographic and commercial data has been determined regarding Joseph Subsector:

  • The subsector is a lower stellar density region.
  • The brightest star is the yellow-white main sequence primary of the Shessot system.
  • There are multiple rift regions within the subsector.
  • No trade routes are noted as crossing the region.

Stellar Distribution[edit]

A basic map showing the distribution and size of stars within Joseph Subsector.

  • The color corresponds to the visible color of the star, which links to its spectral classification.
  • The size as shown indicates both the physical size of the object and its relative brightness.

Note that the stars as depicted are representative. Any star, no matter what its size, is a mere speck within the hex it occupies.

  • Ordinary main sequence stars can barely be seen from even a hex away.
  • Huge, intensely luminous giant stars can be seen from across the subsector and far beyond.

Rift Regions[edit]

Two major rift areas lie within the subsector: the Joseph Reach and the Koronat Void.

  • The Reach dominates the coreward half of the subsector.
  • The Koronat Void occupies the spinward-rimward region of the subsector.
  • The Reach is considered a region of the Hunter Divide, while the Koronat Void is a part of The Gulfs, a complex of smaller rifts and voids. Both are part of the Idella Rift.

Locally at least, a rift is an astrographic concept based on Jump Drive performance.

The highest tech level commonly encountered out this Far Along (spinward of the Third Imperium) is TL–12, though a few worlds may be more advanced.

Borealis Group[edit]

The Borealis Group can be seen as a bright, dense, noticeable grouping of stars in the skies to spinward.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

Joseph Subsector is a remote but settled region with a long history of introversion and isolationism.

Its rimward systems formed part of an ancient Muirimi state called the "Roshanee Kee Ekata", or the "Unity of Light".

  • It was more commonly called the "Unity of Stars".
  • It was home to reclusive sects of monks dedicated to achieving personal enlightenment and unlocking inner powers.
  • It was sometimes referred to as "Far Tibet".

The Muirimi were citizens of the Old Earth Union, in the Solomani Rim, during the Long Night. Their culture was centered on the religious belief of Sitaraism: they gained considerable antipathy due to their views on possessions, private ownership, and territorial rights. They fled Terra aboard a number of large starships during the -200s and somehow made it across Charted Space, finally settling in the isolated wildernesses of Iphigenaia Sector and Theron Sector sometime around -100.

The Unity of Stars was founded shortly after 200. It survived almost unchanged for centuries before surrendering its independence to form the Regency, in order to better deal with the growing Aslan menace in the region.
