== Description / Specifications ==
Irikusk [[Subsector]] lies within [[Far Home Sector]] and is named for the [[Irikusk (world)|Irikusk]] [[system]] and its red giant primary [[star]]. The spinward and coreward regions of the [[Subsector]] are dominated by rift regions and contain mysterious "[[jump shoal]]s" , while its rimward and trailing regions are dotted with scattered systems and crossed by [[Star Lane|trade routes]]. [[Kuyt (world)|Kuyt]] is a major trade hub and is an important shipbuilder: it is the ''de facto'' capital.

== History & Background ==
Irikusk [[Subsector]] saw almost no activity by [[human]]s prior to the establishment of the [[Third Confederation]], and what little development there was abruptly ended with the onset of the [[Fringian Dark Age|Dark Age]], nearly two thousand years ago. Almost all expansion and growth within the region is relatively modern, beginning during the [[Fringian Renaissance|Renaissance]] period and continuing with the rise of [[Development Organization]]s.
* A strong social divide exists between wealthy and aristocratic [[Fives]], descended from the original settlers and crew of the [[Last Armada]], and [[Gens]], individuals whose ancestors were grown in [[GenPods]] and raised by [[Hopper]]s.

=== Major Historical Events Timeline ===
Some of the more important historical events that have affected this area include:
* 2255AD: The [[Last Armada]] arrives in the [[Demon Cluster]].
* 2500AD: The monolithic and anti-expansionist [[Second Confederation]] is founded. Settlement within the [[Demon Cluster]] is restricted to its coreward regions: Irikusk Subsector remains unexplored and unpopulated.
* ca 3200: very limited exploration within the rimward regions of the [[Demon Cluster]].
* ca 3500AD: Sporadic but gradual settlement throughout the Subsector.
* 3730AD: [[Voyagers]] arrive and devastate the Subsector. The [[Fringian Dark Age|Dark Age]] begins.
* 4549AD: The [[Voyagers]] depart and the [[Fringian Dark Age|Dark Age]] ends. The [[Fringian Renaissance|Renaissance]] sees the first steps back into  space.
