Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Insanity class Sloop-of-war was a common Terran vessel that saw service towards the end of the Second Imperium. They were small warships mainly used on patrol, military, and anti-corsair missions. The few surviving examples of the class are historical artifacts housed in museums or kept in private collections.

Basic Ship Characteristics[edit]

The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the ship. Tonnage on the universal ship profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary. [1]

1. Tonnage The Insanity class is constructed using a 1,600 Ton hull built in an elongated Cone configuration. The hull is fully streamlined and has airfoil surfaces, giving excellent atmospheric performance that is further enhanced by its onboard gravitic systems.

The ship has an agility rating of 5 and an emergency agility of 6. The internal fuel tankage is sufficient for one Jump-2 and gives the power plant 4 weeks duration.
  • The engineering section has a main control room.
    • Ladders, gantries and platforms give access to the machinery.
  • The jump drive utilizes a lanthanum hull grid.
  • The jump drive is fitted with a jump governor.

Insanity class Sloops-of-war were common Terran vessels that saw service towards the end of the Second Imperium. It was a typical starship of its period, with an armored hull, over-engineered Jump-2 drives and powerful 6-G maneuver drives. These extremely rugged vessels were popular and saw service long into the Long Night. A number of examples of the class still exist.
