IOC = Initial Operating Capability
- IOC is the year when a craft or vehicle initially becomes operational and begins mainstream manufacturing after the trial and prototype phases.

Description (Specifications)
The IOC is part of the procurement cycle as a new vehicle, ship, or other item goes through initial research, proof of concept, prototyping, and eventually reaches operational status.
A related term is End of Service which is often abbreviated as EoS or nicknamed Sunsetting.
History & Background (Dossier)
Similar terms exist amongst the many other sophont societies of Charted Space. Records of ships that never were in service with the Imperium, or had significant operational history prior to use by the Imperium, may record an initial operating capacity with whatever polity they were first used by.
