Ingenuiti is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.

  • In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the Solomani Confederation in the The Barrens (Al I) Subsector of Aldebaran Sector.

Mainworld Data

Ingenuiti is a hot, small-standard, tidally-locked hellworld with a standard atmosphere tainted with high carbon-dioxide counts, requiring a filtered respirator or vacuum suit. Environment suits will be necessary outside the twilight zone to deal with extreme temperatures.

Mainworld Geography & Topography

Ingenuiti has a small cold-pole ice cap. There is a twilight ribbon sea that is more-or-less contiguous on the cold-side of the twilight zone, with more substantial water deposits being found where mountain ranges intersect the twilight zone.

The hot pole is over 180°C. The hot side of Ingenuiti is a mixture of hard-pan and sand deserts. Wind patterns drop rain in the twilight mountainous regions, before dropping the remainder as snow and ice towards the cold-pole.

Native Lifeforms

Plant life is plentiful where water is available towards the warm-side of the twilight zone, where the sunlight is refracted enough for absorption. Ancient tall trees almost 10m in diameter reach skyward on the higher hills; this thickness allows them to resist the near-constant winds driven by the temperature difference between the hot- and cold-poles.

World Starport

Ingenuiti has a Class E Starport, a frontier quality installation with few expected amenities. There is unrefined fuel for starships and a limited variety of ship provisions. There is no shipyard of any kind, but there may be parts and technical support for doing minor services and repair. Ports of this classification generally consist of a downport.

Each settlement nation maintains a basic function downport, none of which rises to a D-class facility.

At least 2 colonization starships (800 and 2000 ton vessels as observed) remain in orbit around Ingenuiti. The settlement nations apparently cooperate to launch early tech orbital craft to resupply a skeleton/scientific crew on a semi-regular basis. The Ingenuiti Launch Center is a dedicated launch and recovery organization located on a plateau located just on the hot-side of the twilight zone, and represents perhaps a Class-D space port, but it is explicitly off limits to Travellers.

World Technology Level

Ingenuiti possesses a Technology Level of TL–6.

Most settlements were begun with basic fission reactor technology, and have maintained that ability. Evolutionary improvements have been made, and each settlement has manufactured new power plants as needed.

World Government

Ingenuiti has a Balkanized Government. There is no central world government. The world has several governments competing for control of the world. These may be allies, cooperating, competitors, or at war with each other.

4 different nations claim roughly equal sections of the twilight zone, and its associated slice of the planet.

  • First: the most mountainous nation
  • Clever: contains the largest 2 lakes on the twilight zone
  • Metal: a somewhat dry mountainous region, but with rich and accessible metal ores.
  • Prepp: the remainder area, which is driest, with more plateaus than mountains, but has more imported technology and power plants than the others combined.

World Law Level

Ingenuiti has a high law level with laws covering many areas of interactions of people, corporations, and the government. A few worlds with this law level may be Amber Zones. Any interaction with the judicial system requires an Advocate trained in the local legal system. Law enforcement is present almost everywhere, either as people or via technology. Legal proceedings can take weeks to months to resolve and involve a dozen or more people. All blade weapons and firearms, and anything more destructive, are typically regulated or prohibited.

Each nation has strict cultural taboos regarding effective weaponry. Any personal disputes that involve more than unarmed combat are treated very seriously. That said, martial arts are very popular, and "accidental" injuries and deaths are treated with less rigor.

World Military

Each nation maintains a small reservist cadre trained in military weapons and tactics, but are mostly used as emergency personnel during disasters.

World Economy

Trade Data

Trade is world-bound. Each region will likely be willing and able to both buy and sell a variety of goods from travellers.

World Culture

The Ingenuiti cultures relate back to the Terran cultures that passed thru the Third Reformed French Republic and the Simonides Run worlds.

First The First culture have made use of advanced crops to build an impressive agricultural society with an effective biological research industry. Its people tend to be focused on appreciating cooking, family, and the natural beauty of the land.

Clever The people of clever make use of the First crops, but have also built a aquaculture industry in their carefully maintained lake region. That said, they also enjoy lake-focused activities and have a particular focus on acquiring/developing and mastering new technologies. In this, they have a ongoing set of grudges with the people of Prepp.

Metal Metal was settled by a mining-focused population, who apparently came well-prepared to build a civilization to do that. Fortunately, they were able to lay claim to a metal-rich region that allowed them to make good use of their preparation and skills.

This region has many manufactories and elevated arcologies. These structures are often adorned with brass and gold, in interesting and complex artistic designs.

The people have a particular focus on STEM education and music. The music here involves complex rhythms, power chords, and percussion combined with inspirational evocations and dark brooding poetics.

Prepp Located between Clever and Metal, Prepp has been left with the poorest land quality. Nonetheless, they have more available electrical and heat energy than the other regions combined. It's cities are interconnected arcologies with extensive public transport, and centralized atmospheric processing. The arcologies here tend to be covered in local plant life and small garden plots.

The people of Prepp have industries focused on maintaining and expanding their technological advantages. It is the hub for the information network on Ingenuiti. Likewise, most of the entertainment programming is produced and broadcast from here.

World Language/s

Anglic, Euxene French, French

Anglic is the world-standard language, but the French dialects are spoken in many smaller towns and during cultural celebrations.

Urbanization

See culture above.

Each region seems to have a single large urban center, named eponymously.
