Description (Specifications)[edit]
These vehicles are part of the Imperial class Grav APC family.
In keeping with Imperial doctrine, platoon command vehicles double as the platoon fire support element, replicating the role of weapons platoons in low-tech leg-infantry units. Thus the Imperial Army Fire Support APC is a fully capable combat unit. The Imperial Army expects to deal with situations short of all-out war; Brushfires, counter-insurgency, peacekeeping and security. These require weaponry that can be used with discretion and finesse, in quantity and thus inexpensively.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
This design was developed with the initial Imperial class Grav APC to meet the Platoon, Company and Battalion command requirements of TL–15 warfare as practiced by the Imperial Army.
Some Imperial Army units facing the Zhodani Consulate and Sword Worlds Confederation in the Spinward Marches Sector had fully upgraded to be using these systems in time for the Fifth Frontier War.
The vehicle was too expensive for the Platoon role and insufficiently capable for the higher command roles. Thus two alternatives were developed after 1110: Imperial class Austere Fire Support APC and the Imperial class Command Computer Staff APC. These supplemented and then replaced this model.
