Within the various offices of the Scout Service, the branches are responsible for specific duties which accomplish the missions of the office. The Bureaucracy is the only division of the IISS that uses formal rank structures.  Field Scouts do not have formal rank, but are assigned a temporary rank grade equivalent to their number of terms of service when interacting with bureaucracy, as necessary. Some of the organizational ranks and grades used by the IISS bureaucracy are included in the table to the right, as well as in the accompanying tables associated with individual offices below.
