Description (Specifications)[edit]

The Imperial Courts of Justice are divided into the following categories:

  1. Imperial Criminal Courts (Criminal Law)
  2. Imperial Civil Courts (Civil Law)
  3. Imperial Admiralty Courts (Admiralty Law)
  4. Imperial Military Courts (Military Law)

The first three of these courts are overseen by the Ministry of Justice, the final one by the Ministry of Defense].

The Imperial High Court is a specialist Criminal Court for the trial of the crime of Treason by Peers.

Each court will be overseen by either a single Imperial Judge or, if the case is particularly sensational or important, in a tribunal of Judges. A tribunal can help make their decisions seem more like a fair gesture rather than a heavy-handed punishment that might be confused as noble tyranny[1].

The Imperial Judges may appoint legal advocates to advise or assist in the running of the court.

The Imperial Courts of Justice are noted for an inability to recognise any persons in the court other than the Court Officials, Plaintiffs/Defendants, Sworn Witnesses and members of the Imperial Bar Association. Any other person speaking is apt to be treated as a nuisance and Imperial Judges will direct that they be silenced, removed or jailed for contempt of court.

Note that there is no Imperial Appeals Court[2].
