Iguna is a pre-agricultural and nonindustrial world lacking adequate development for its economy to become prosperous.

  • As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
  • It is a member of the High Senate in the Loran Subsector of Halcyon Sector, which is part of the Distant Fringe.

Astrography and Planetology[edit]

This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.

System Data[edit]

Salvator-Iguna System[edit]

The primary is Salvator, an ordinary orange main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.352 Sols, a mass of 0.774 Sols, and a diameter of 1.168 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, and (II) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (III) Iguna orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (IV) a very thin atmosphere hospitable world, (V) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, and (VI) a vacuum worldlet form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data[edit]

(III) Iguna[edit]

(III) Iguna is designated the mainworld. It orbits Salvator at a mean distance of 0.7 AU (104.5 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 243 days 4 hours and a rotation period of 15.5 hours. The axial tilt is 43 degrees. Iguna has a diameter of 8,353 km, a density of 5.69 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.68 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 0.97 bar and a composition of 78% nitrogen (N2), 21% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The taint is caused by concentrations of airborne toxins of organic origin. Approximately 62% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.5m. Mean surface temperature: 9°C. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star and the seas sweep across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellites[edit]

Iguna retains two natural satellites, a corrosive atmosphere inferno world named Polad and an ice-capped trace atmosphere worldlet named Weiss:

(IIIa) Polad (UWP Y3B0000-0, orbiting at 45 Diameters/375,000 km)
(IIIb) Weiss (UWP Y101000-0, orbiting at 50 Diameters/420,000 km)

Mainworld geography and topography[edit]

Total surface area: 219 million km², Water surface area: 136 million km², Land surface area: 83 million km².

Native lifeforms[edit]

Iguna has extensive native life, consisting of multicellular organisms and stromatolite-parallels that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal. The largest forms of fauna are armored seabed walkers weighing a few kilos that prey on soft-bodied swimmers: some species crawl onto beaches, to above the high tide point, in order to reproduce.

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

No information yet available.

World starport[edit]

Iguna has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level[edit]

Iguna possesses a Technology Level of TL–7.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early video and early satellite communication networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fuel cells, solar energy, and geothermal power sources.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Improved automobiles, hovercraft, and bullet trains.
    • Water: Hydrofoils and early triphibians.
    • Air: Hang gliders and supersonic jets.
    • Space: Deep space probes and interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).

World government[edit]

Iguna is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
