Computer memory advances continue and at TL–12 silicon and other memory types are gradually replaced with three dimensional storage array devices that resemble crystals. The standard size of these crystals is ten milliliters, but they can be larger. These crystals use internal holographic memory structures to store about one petabyte of information, and cost anywhere from 1000 Cr at TL-12, to 20,000 Cr in less advanced worlds.

These crystals require a computer system and interface of at least the technology level of the crystal itself.
