Hegemony (Government) Synopsis

Hegemony: A Hegemony is an interstellar political entity, or polity, that is characterized by a very high degree of centralization, strong policies that direct the entire sectors or states, and a strong disregard for local/planetary differences.

Hegemonic Characteristics

As a generality, the members of a Hegemony have less freedom than almost any other type of a governmental power structure except an Empire.

The dominant state in a Hegemony is called the Hegemon.

The dominated states in a Hegemony are known by a variety of names including:

  • Client states
  • Colonies
  • Dependent states
  • Occupied states (Under military adminstration)
  • Puppet states
  • Vassal states
