Gun-do

A Terran martial art, gun-do is a hand-to-hand combat system, which uses a handgun or a pair of handguns. These handguns are used to strike and parry blows, as well as to shoot. Gun-do also includes a number of postures, movements and techniques which are designed to avoid being hit by an opponent's projectiles. Gun-do is generally seen as a soft martial art, in that it emphasises flexibility and evasion, rather than a strong stance and powerful strikes. This art is often associated with Old Terra and many historical dramas make use of it to add a period flavour. Gun-do is fought in competitions, using guns which shoot small paint pellets or make use of a laser system, which records hits.
