Goromida is a nonindustrial fluid world.

  • A fluid world has an oceanic geography of a liquid other than water such as ammonia, methane, hydrocarbons, or other exotic liquids.
  • It requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. Having to import most manufactured and high tech goods drives the price up for these items at this world.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Veesene Subsector of Halcyon Sector.

System Data

Rescind-Goromida System

The primary is Rescind, an ordinary white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 11.26 Sols, a mass of 1.86 Sols, and a diameter of 2.421 million km. The inner system consists of (II) a vacuum worldlet, (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world, (IV) an exotic atmosphere radworld, and (V) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world – orbital position (I) is empty. (VI) Goromida orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (VII) an exotic atmosphere stormworld, and (VIII) a sparse rocky planetoid belt form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(VI) Goromida

(VI) Goromida is designated the mainworld. It orbits Rescind at a mean distance of 2.93 AU (438.3 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 3 years 247 days and a rotation period of 33 hours. The axial tilt is 18 degrees. Goromida has a diameter of 11,952 km, a density of 6.12 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.04 G. The world is geologically very active. Its atmosphere is rated as Insidious, with a mean surface pressure of 1.62 bar and a composition of 66% nitrogen, 29% chlorine, 3% carbon dioxide, 1% hydrogen chloride, and 1% argon, water vapour, neon and other trace gases. Approximately 44% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid hydrochloric acid: average tidal ranges exceed 0.2m. Mean surface temperature: 38°C. The atmosphere is extremely active and violent weather systems driven by the star and the seas scour the surface. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite

Goromida retains a single natural satellite, a corrosive atmosphere inferno world named Rassilon:

(VIa) Rassilon (UWP Y4B0000-0, orbiting Goromida at 14 Diameters/167,000 km)

Mainworld geography and topography

Total surface area: 449 million km², Land surface area: 251 million km², Fluid surface area: 198 million km².

Native lifeforms

Goromida has extensive but primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic chlorine-breathing cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find a hospitable environment. Their metabolic processes maintain a cycle of atmospheric renewal.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Goromida has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.

World technology level

Goromida possesses a Technology Level of TL–9.

  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Fiber optics and satellite communication and data networks.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Early fusion power.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Ultra high-speed trains and early grav vehicles.
    • Water: High efficiency sailcraft, multihulled seacraft, improved artificial gills.
    • Air: Tiltrotorcraft, exotic VTOL's, PARWIG, and rocket-assisted suborbitals.
    • Space: SSTO spacecraft, early military spacecraft (System Craft), and interstellar STL starships
    • FTL: Prototype Jump Drive-1.

World government

Goromida is governed by a Representative Democracy where government leadership is representatives elected by eligible voters. What determines an eligible voter varies. The representatives determine policy, including selecting members of the bureaucracy. There can be referendum, votes by eligible voters on specific subjects.
