Goods/Personal vehicles
Equipment classification: V - Vehicles[edit]
Personal Vehicles are the smallest of items which can be called Vehicles. These are designed for the transport of a single sophont. In some cases these are smaller than the sophont they are carrying. They are all light weight, usually leaves the user exposed the elements, and not designed for long term travel or use.

An experimental TL–6 design. CAR is a Coaxial Rotor system, where there are two sets of rotors (one above another) providing lift, but rotating in opposite directions to cancel torque. This is a large (37kg) backpack consisting of a small, but powerful, gas engine, a 20 minute fuel supply, and the CAR rotors mounted about .7m above the head of the pilot. Top speed is 240kph, with a ceiling around 2000m.

The Autogyro is a type of Rotary Wing Aircraft.
Description / Specifications[edit]
The Autogyro is a small rotary-wing aircraft designed for the civilian market.
Hull / Suspension[edit]
An open frame constructed from steel and lightweight materials, containing the exposed mechanical components.
- Length: 3.4m, Width: 1.0m, Height: 1.8m (including the rotor mast).
- Rotor Diameter: 6.2m.
- Overall Volume: 6.2m³ (0.5 dTons).
- Unloaded Weight: 115 kg.
The overall volume measures the vehicles maximum dimensions less the rotor blades. The enclosed volume of the frame fuselage is substantially lower. The rotor blades can be folded to lie along the line of the aircraft when it is being transported. The length includes the tail and rudder.
The aircraft has a fixed three point undercarriage fitted with wheels.
Power / Transmission[edit]
A small internal combustion power plant using hydrocarbon fuel. The fuel supply is contained within a small protected tank. The power plant drives a pusher rotor located behind the pilot: the main rotor is unpowered and spins due to autorotation, caused by the flow of air moving over the rotor blades.
Performance[edit]
- Takeoff Run: 35m.
- Maximum Takeoff Weight: 245 kg.
- Cruise Speed: 110 kph, Top Speed: 160 kph, Stall Speed: 0 kph.
- Duration: 2.5 hours at Cruise Speed, 1.5 hours at Top Speed.
- Maximum Altitude: 3,000m (depending on the local atmosphere type).
Note: in the event of a stall, the aircraft will either (a) gain enough speed during its fall to cause autorotation in its rotors and thus gain lift, or (b) impact the ground with catastrophic consequences.
Crew[edit]
The cockpit consists of a single seat protected by an open fairing. The seat is fitted with a safety harness. The pilot's position is fitted with basic mechanical controls. A console provides data such as velocity and altitude.
The vehicle has no internal storage. Incidental cargo may be carried in panniers or slung bags.
- Cargo Storage: none.
- Maximum load: 130 kg (including crew) before performance is impaired.
Equipment[edit]
Running lights.
History / Background[edit]
A very small aircraft available in a variety of body styles and colors. The density of the local atmosphere dramatically affects vehicle performance.

The Helipack is a collapsible mini-helicopter capable of carrying a single pilot. The kit consists of a 15kg backpack containing the controls, Fuel Cell power plant, and a high pressure cylinder with the hydrogen fuel. Attached to the kit, and requiring assembly on site is a counter-rotating blade setup. Assembly or break down time is 15 minutes with correct tools.
The Helipack requires a world with a Thin Atmosphere or denser. Many worlds restrict flying vehicles that don't include an auto-pilot or can connect to the Roadgrid System. Manufacturers recommend helmets, the downwash and noise from the rotors can be dangerous.

The Overrun "Cavalry" Walker originally was the Onslaught Mark 2, before designers deleted the original suits maneuver drives and CG lifters to concentrate upon ground mobility. In HI Divisions, these are deployed to screen infantry and their supporting units against enemy fire, using the high speed to avoid ambushes or damage from mines and hidden explosives. They are also used as fast reaction attack units to provide fire support and rapid response for normal units under enemy fire.
An integral 10.9 MJ Fusion Cannon is fitted into a small turret mount between the shoulders overshadowing the sensor cluster, having enough clearance for 360 degree fire. In addition to this stabilized mount, the two arms are each fitted with a 13mm Gauss Rifle to provide ambidextrous fire support around corners and obstacles. 4 centimeters of enhanced Bonded Superdense provides sufficient armor protection against all infantry antitank rockets and antipersonnel mines, and decent protection against laser weapons on civilian spacecraft.

The Schalli roller is essentially a large electric wheelchair intended to let these aquatic beings get around in a terrestial environment. They are built at the lowest practical technology level in order to make them readily available, as well as to eventually allow their construction on Schall, should the Schalli so desire. The are also designed to be inexpensive, to make them affordable to as many Schalli as possible. They are designed for use on flat surfaces. Schalli who seek better rough terrain performance use either contra-grav platforms or walkers.
The "bucket" in which the Schalli sits it partly filled with water. This provides some buoyancy for the Schalli's comfort, and also keeps his or her skin from drying out. There is a low-power mister which draws water from the bucket and sprays the Schalli's head.
The housing at the Schalli's chest level folds down as a work table, where the Schalli can use his four arms to maniplulate equipment.
The roller must be recharged every every 24 hours, usually while the Schalli sleep, and the roller is equipped with power cables and standard connectors.

The Travel suit (or TeeSuit) is a combination gravitic vehicle and hostile environment suit, which contains a super-humid atmosphere for the health and comfort of its wearer. Versions of the TeeSuit are constructed for most other water living sophonts.
The suit is capable of flight at up to 100 kph. Normal cruise speed is only about 75 kph and NOE speed is 20 kph. The TeeSuit provides its wearer with complete protection from temperatures ranging from -100°C to +100°C, and pressures of up to 5 atm.
A combat version exists, called a type D Battle Dress, with the same armor rating as human battle dress. It includes a sonar amplifier (range 1 km), integral waldos, and a chameleon surface, often set to dark grey above blending to light grey/white on the lower surface. A special snout ram can be fitted, as well as a torpedo rack.
Early versions provide fairly comfortable support for up to 12 hours. By TL–15, the cost has increased to Cr150,000 but the suit only weighs 7 kg, and provides very comfortable accommodations for up to 48 hours.
In all cases, the helmet includes a polylucent cuprothallium visor with a full heads-up display tied into an on-board computer/communication array. This system is equivalent to a hand computer in data processing power with a regional (500 km) range audio/video transceiver capability.
