Golden Main
The Golden Main is an astrographic feature located in the rim-trailing portion Ruupiin Sector and reaching into the adjacent sectors.
Description (Specifications)[edit]
A large Main comprising over a hundred systems spread across four sectors. The Main is named for the Golden Herd, one of the branches of the Crusade launched from Kirur, the homeworld of the K'kree. They were the first race to explore and dominate the Main, and they remain the dominant force along the entire Main. Kirur is not located on the Golden Main, but is relatively close to it to coreward.
History & Background (Dossier)[edit]
There is only limited evidence that the region of Charted Space dominated by this Main was extensively traveled or explored prior to the Crusades of the K'kree. None of the known Minor Races located on the Main were spacefarers when the K'kree encountered them. The Menetha colony worlds are thought to have impinged on this Main, but surviving evidence is scarce.
The K'kree of the Golden Herd, tasked with exploration and cleansing of g'naak to rimward of Kirur, arrived on this main several decades after the Crusade began, reaching it from near the homeworld of the Girug'kagh in Ruupiin Sector. As with the other branches of the Crusade, they were expecting to find intelligent life eventually, and would soon encounter worlds so populated, depopulating some, and allowing others to live, and eventually serve, the will of the K'kree. Three sophont races who now serve the K'kree in great numbers and significant roles were found on or near the Golden Main in Ruupiin Sector, whle others would be found as the K'kree followed the Main to rimward and trailing.
Following the K'kree war with the Hivers, K'kree expansion halted, followed by an ongoing era of resource development. The worlds of the Golden Main are among the older developed worlds in the Two Thousand Worlds, though kiruforming is rarer and more difficult along this Main than it is closer to Kirur.
