Gashema is a nonindustrial world, that requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society.
- In a technological universe, societies without industrial capability generally suffer as nearly all manufactured and high tech goods must be brought in at significant cost.
- As a nonindustrial world, it requires extensive imports of outside technology to maintain a modern, star-faring society. The need to import most manufactured and high technology goods drives the price of these goods up in the open market.
- It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Vland Subsector of Vland Sector in the Domain of Vland.
- This world lies within the Vland system.
- It is a satellite of Vland, the mainworld.
- This is a "high technology" world with technology achievements at, near, or over technology standards for Charted Space.
Description (Astrography & Planetology)
Gashema orbits Vland, which in turn orbits a solitary primary star named Urakkalan.
- The primary is a white main sequence.

System Data
The various worlds of the Vland system have been surveyed. They consist of:
- Vland, the mainworld.
- x5 secondary rocky worlds.
- x1 planetoid belt.
Satellite Data
Gashema is a marginally habitable moon of Vland, the mainworld of the Vland system.
- It orbits the mainworld at 550,000 km (around 35 diameters).
Satellite Size (S)
Gashema is a Meso World between 5,600km and 7,200km in diameter. The world has low gravity between 0.32G and 0.46G. The horizon will appear about 3.6km away.
Satellite Atmosphere (A)
Gashema has a pressure of 0.10 to 0.42 atmospheres. The very thin pressures require a respirator or Oxygen Mask. TL–5 or more advanced survival gear is required to settle this world.
Satellite Hydrosphere (H)
Gashema has 35-45% of its surface covered by liquid water. There will be a number of small seas or one larger body of water. Wilderness refueling is possible.
Satellite Geography and Topography
No centrally held map of the world exists within AAB Library Data records.
(Blank map, predominantly dry world.)
History & Background (Dossier)
Gashema supports a thriving colony, a psychohistorical research station, and a military base.
It is the location of an Imperial Data Repository. Such sites are very often treasure troves of secrets and sensitive data.
- The site is heavily guarded. Access to the information it contains is carefully controlled.
World Spaceport
Gashema has a Class F Spaceport, a good quality secondary installation for handing expected in-system traffic. It can supply amenities like brokerage services for passengers and cargo and refined fuel. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Spaceports usually consist of a Downport.
- Trans Galactic Starlines, in partnership with Vilani megacorporation Zirunkariish have set-up alternate starports for ease of access and use with connecting in-system service provided to passengers. In the Vland system, Gashema is used. This alternate starport has a Brubek's gastropub and a Medel's Mega Mart.
- Khugishu Bilanidin runs almost all of its shipping activities for the Vland System through Gashema using the relatively cheap, quick, and regular intra-system transport between Gashema and Vland for passengers or cargo destined for that world.
World Technology Level
Gashema possesses a Technology Level of TL–14 or TL-E in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Early meson communicators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Miniature super-batteries, early collectors, and advanced fusion plants.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land, Water & Air: Personal G-Tubes and advanced gravcraft.
- Space: Advanced interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-5.
World Population (P)
Gashema has a population of 500,000 sophonts (hundreds of thousands).
- This is a Nonindustrial World, too small to support the complete chain of production of most goods from start to finish.
World Government
Gashema has a Captive Government or Colony. The world is ruled by an external government, there is no self-rule. A colony or conquered area. The local government is an oligarchy appointed by, and answerable only to, the external government.
- Gashema is a natural satellite and colony of Vland. It does not have an independent government.
World Military
This world has a military base – it serves as the operational headquarters of Vland's COACC.
World Law (L)
Gashema has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A world with this law level may be an Amber Zone or a Red Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked. There is no legal concept of privacy (save for those who can claim necessity for official government business). The police are free to inspect anyone and anything at any time.
World Economy
The Argushiigi Admegulasha Bilanidin established a branch on Gashema during the First Imperium as a back-up for the holdings on Vland. The Argushiigi Admegulasha Bilanidin branch on Gashema, therefore, conducts no original research, but is an alternate, back-up repository designed to ensure that should a catastrophe occur on Vland the record and knowledge of the Argushiigi Admegulasha Bilanidin would not be lost.
- The AAB branch on Gashema includes a branch of the University of Kasiiga offfering a variety of courses of study for the planet's residents and off-world students.
- The megacorporation Zirunkariish maintains its primary records repository on Gashema as well as a major trading clearinghouse.
- The Urakkalan Co-Prosperity Development Trust: This Zirunkariish subsidiary is committed to economic development of the Vland System through direct investment and other projects anywhere within the Vland system, except on the mainworld of Vland. It is headquartered on Gashema. Ownership: Zirunkariish – 50%, Shiishuginsa family – 20%, Sharurshid Trust – 10%, Makhidkarun – 10%, and Naasirka – 10%.
Imperial High (Landed) Nobility
Gashema is not a mainworld: there are no assigned nobles on this planet.
