Gadgick is a rich, pre-agricultural world with a moderate population over a hundred million, but not yet at a billion sophonts in size.

  • The world's agricultural industry is growing and some economists forecast an explosion in this world's agribusiness in the near future as new agro-technology and a more capable labor force are imported.
  • This is a rich world with a prosperous and thriving world economy.
  • This world has high-grade living conditions with a good climate and a non-harmful environment. As such, this world is much sought after with large queues for immigration here.
  • This is a cold world with an overall climate that is at the lower temperature range of human-congruous sophont endurance.
  • This is a "Puzzle" world designated as an Amber Zone. Caution is advised since the world has an environment, laws, customs, life forms, or other conditions that are not well understood and might be a danger to a visitor.
  • It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Galloway Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.
  • This world-system hosts a Naval Base, usually associated with military starships, which may be located on or off-world.
  • Sometimes an alternate orthography (spelling) for this world is used Gadjick.

History & Background (Dossier)

Gadjick (sometimes spelled 'Gadgick') is a rich world located in Galloway Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.

World Starport (Sp)

This world has a Class B Starport, a good quality installation which includes all the expected amenities including refined fuel for starships, brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing annual maintenance, overhauls and most kinds of repair, and construction of non-starships. Most ports of this classification have both a Highport and a Downport.

World Population (P)

This world has a population of 100,000,000 sophonts (hundreds of millions).

World Government

This world is governed by a Non-charismatic Dictatorship. A continuation of the charismatic dictatorship, where the original leadership has died or retired and replaced by allies or protégés. The reasons for the change in government remain as well as the assertion of rights to rule.

The capital of the multisystem Commonwealth of Gadjick is housed on Gadgick.

The government was formerly a democratic republic that has transformed into a repressive dictatorship due to the purging of opposition parties and SolSec subversion. The government is excessively ruthless compared to other such governments in the Confederation.

World Law Level (L)

This world has an extreme law level which covers every area of interaction. Laws are complex, detailed, and difficult to understand. Every interaction with the government requires an Advocate. Law enforcement is omnipresent and strict. Legal proceeding can take months to years to resolve and may involve dozens of people. A few worlds with this law level may be a Red Zone and others will be an Amber Zone. All objects specifically manufactured as weapons are typically regulated or prohibited (with no exception for private residences; visiting starships are only protected so long as they stay within designated starports and approach corridors). Civilian movement is rigidly controlled. Travel documents are frequently checked, and destinations must often be declared when traveling substantial distances across the world.

World Technology Level (TL)

This world possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.

World Military

The Commonwealth of Gadgick maintains a large military and police force to both deter further Confederation aggression and to suppress oppositional political movements. The Commonwealth maintains a significant naval base in orbit around the planet.

The Revenger Class Fleet Tender is a notable contribution of Gadjick to naval architecture.

The local military uses some interesting military units. Akshat's Army is an example unit.

World Economy

Gadgick is a wealthy world with a growing agriculture sector. It is not significantly industrialized and relies on the importation of consumer and industrial goods. The Confederation enforces a limited embargo forbidding the sale of any TL11+ products to the Commonwealth.

World Demographics

Gadjick was founded by Terran settlers of Asian and Pacific ancestry. While this makes the people of Gadjick Solomani by definition, they would not identify themselves as such.

World Culture

The people of Gadjick are notable for their intense nationalism and jingoism. After the recent loss of Duni to the Confederation anti-Solomani sentiments are high. These feelings are stoked by revanchist rhetoric promoted by propaganda on government controlled media.

Historical Data

Gadgick was settled by Terran settles during the Rule of Man. During the Long Night the system remained isolated from other Humaniti worlds in the subsector and remained self-sufficient, and therefore did not suffer the societal collapse experienced by other systems in the subsector.

The population of Gadgick did not join the Solomani Autonomous Region prior to the Solomani Rim War, instead choosing to create the autonomous Commonwealth of Gadgick with six neighboring systems. While also an anti-Imperial entity, the Commonwealth did not choose to accept the Charter of Solomani Confederation, but did provide military support to the Confederation during the war.

After the war a backlash against the Solomani Party occurred due to dissatisfaction with the loss of Gadgick life and a Solomani Confederation defeat. Gadgick nationalism rose to prominence during this time. During this time the democratic republic transformed into a repressive police state ruled by the president of the Commonwealth of Gadgick in response to the pressures of SolSec subversion. Two major illegal Solomani dissident groups, the Solomani Freedom Party and the Solomani Party, advocate for annexation into the Confederation and the return to democracy.

A short but bitter war between the Commonwealth and the Confederation over the control of the Duni system resulted in a humiliating peace with the annexation of Duni into the Confederation.
