The GSD Fimir class Workshop Crawler is a TL-9 Armored Fighting Vehicle.

Description (Specifications)[edit]

The GSD Fimir class Workshop Crawler: Built on Tarkan (world) from TL–9 kits acquired off world by Global Securities Division, attempts to build them from local sourced technology failed. The fusion power plant was considered vital for protected forces work in vacuum conditions and TL 8 batteries were not equal to the task. The vehicle's heavy 16.8cm thick composite laminate armor sheaths the chassis to levels of protection equivalent to starship hull metal. This design is sealed with life support for the crew in vacuum and protected forces roles. An imported bare minimum stock 2MW fusion power plant is installed for movement. There is a single 97.53kg capacity launch rail on the chassis deck. The 3 crew have ~14 days of full life support (proof against CBR/NBC threats) and exit via an airlock to the rear of the vehicle. Due to their high ground pressure their cross country speed is 40% of their road speed. They never get stuck in the mud, soft earth, snow, or sand. Their heavier armor means they are not amphibious, and have trouble finding bridges that can support their mass which places additional maintenance strain on their wide tracked suspension.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics[edit]

Following the Imperial Army and IISS Universal Vehicle Profile and data, additional information is presented in the format shown here. The small craft factor indicates the number of squadrons (of ten craft) carried on the vehicle when applicable. Tonnage on the universal vehicle profile is shown in kilotons (thousands of tons) where necessary.

Basic Vehicle Characteristics
#. Category Remarks
1. Tonnage Chassis: Total mass loaded: 129.5 metric tons
  • Height: 3m; Width: 3m; Length: 5m.
  • Total usable volume: 54m³
  • Hull Material: Composite Laminates
2. Crew x3 crew: Driver, Gunner, and Commander
3. Performance Speed: Road, 80kph / 66cm; Cross Country, 32kph / 26cm.
  • Movement effect on fire: if moving less than 1/2 -4 FFP, no fire EFP, more than 1/2 no fire, an unstabilized weapons platform.
4. Electronics Equipment: 5,000 power radio, map box, modular workshop, thermal image, image enhancement, 1,000 km maser communicator, sealed environment with life support for 3.
5. Hardpoints One 97.53kg capacity TAC missile launch rail on the chassis deck.
  • It uses a 12kg 25cm HEAP 57 warhead and it takes two crew members to manually reload these missiles if additional rounds are available, as none are carried internally. The homing missiles struggle to achieve intercepts against vehicles protected with advanced ECM abilities. The vehicle can not designate its own targets but can hand off to deployed infantry to spot and mark targets. A single homing missile is included in the price.
6. Power The 2MW fusion power plant is geared to a 1.2m³ transmission, the ground pressure is 9.25 tons/m2 on 14m³ tracked suspension. The power to weight ratio is 15.4.
7. Defenses Armor: Chassis all faces 40.
  • Target Size DMs: +3 low, no high hits
8. Craft None.
9. Fuel Fuel capacity 1,042 liters, enough for 347 hours.
10. Cost Production Cost: Cr521,209.5.
11. Construction Time 2 weeks.
12. Comments Maintenance:
  • Vehicle 8
  • Electronics 9

History & Background (Dossier)[edit]

This vehicle is not equipped with guidance packages for operator guided missiles. The GSD Fimir class Workshop Crawler was designed and manufactured at TL–9, these vehicles are manufactured for the Global Securities Division in defense of Tarkan (world). They are one of a family of tracked utility vehicles designed to survive the rigors of protected forces operations on a vacuum world. Because the modular workshop needed to repair and maintain all of the unit's electronics, weapons and vehicles is so large, the 40 mechanics that these two vehicles support, must ride in separate vehicles. The lord's retinue concentrates all support elements and the line companies are all teeth and no tail. They have good communication links and a map box with GPS to help lost GSD Achilles class Combat Walkers. The single TAC missile places a small amount of anti-tank firepower at the hands of the unit commander in support of infantry or in extremis self defense. They lack the sensors to spot enemies at range.
