Hull / Suspension[edit]

A boxy hull constructed from iron, steel, brass and wood.

  • Length: 3.5 meters, Width: 2.0 meters, Height: 2.8 meters.
  • Overall volume: approximately 19.6m³ (1.45 dTons)
  • Unloaded Weight: 1,200 kg.

The overall volume measures the vehicles maximum dimensions and includes road clearance. The enclosed volume of the contoured hull is substantially lower.

The vehicle is fitted with a shock-absorbing wheeled suspension system mounted on axles and leaf springs.

Power / Transmission[edit]

Up to 4x Beasts of Burden (typically 4x horses, capable of moving up to 2,800 kg). The animals are harnessed to a 6.5m long shaft attached to the front axle.

Performance[edit]

  • Cruise Speed: 5 kph, Top Speed: 25 km.
  • Range: 10 hours at Cruise Speed, 10 minutes per hour at Top Speed.

Crew / Passengers[edit]

The body of the vehicle is a box fitted with open side windows that can be covered by blinds. The crew facilities consists of open exterior bench seats located at the top-front (the driver) and the top rear (the lookout): two passengers may be seated externally, adjacent to the crew. The passenger cabin contains two upholstered bench seats designed for four passengers – an additional two can be accommodated, though such arrangements are cramped. The passenger compartment provides basic environmental protection (it is weatherproof but is not sealed). The driver's position is fitted with reins to control and steer the animals.

Luggage and cargo may be stored within the passenger cabin, on the roof, and within a "trunk" located at the rear of the vehicle.

  • Cargo Storage: 2.5m³ plus slung packs and bags.
  • Maximum Load: 1,300 kg (including passengers) before performance is dramatically impaired.
    • Maximum Gross Weight: 2,500 kg.
