Frant is a poor, low-population world with a population of less than 10,000 sophonts in population size.
- This poor world is struggling to establish itself and living conditions in many areas are rudimentary.
- It is a Non-Aligned world dominated by human sophonts located in the Paradise Subsector of Halcyon Sector.
Astrography and Planetology
This star system is detailed using the Fringian Variant System Description.
- This world lies on the Wolfs Tail Star Lane.

System Data
Mani-Frant System
The primary is Mani, an ordinary red main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 0.0202 Sols, a mass of 0.3942 Sols, and a diameter of 604,000 km. (I) Frant, designated the mainworld, (II) a very thin atmosphere radworld, and (III) a vacuum iceworld form the inner part of the outer zone – orbital positions (IV) through (VIII) are unavailable due to the presence of the companion star. (IX) a small ice giant, (X) a ringed large gas giant, and (XI) an exotic atmosphere bigworld form the outer part of the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.
Obess Subsystem
The companion is Obess, a dim red subdwarf star that orbits Mani at 3.08 AU (orbital position (VI), 172 million km) and has an orbital period of 1 year 352 days. It has a luminosity of 0.00103 Sols, a mass of 0.081 Sols, and a diameter of 109,000 km. (I) a vacuum iceworld, (II) a thin atmosphere bigworld, and (III) a ringed small gas giant form the outer system. The gas giant retains satellites.
Mainworld Data
(I) Frant
(I) Frant is designated the mainworld. It orbits Mani at a mean distance of 0.19 AU (28.4 million km), within the outer zone. It has an orbital period of 48 days 4 hours: it is tidally locked to Mani. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Frant has a diameter of 8,077 km, a density of 5.38 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 0.62 G. Tidal stresses generated by the gravitational pull of Mani cause frequent geological activity. Its atmosphere is rated as Thin, with a mean surface pressure of 0.31 bar and a composition of 81% nitrogen (N2), 18% oxygen (O2), and 1% argon (Ar), water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. Approximately 13% of the surface is covered in seas of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.1m. Mean surface temperature: -63°C. The climate is rated as Very Cold and is static, with no seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is sluggish and weak weather systems driven by the star drift across the globe.
Mainworld Geography and Topography
Total surface area: 205 million km², Land surface area: 178 million km², Water surface area: 27 million km².
- [World] is a Twilight Zone World.
- The world experiences libration, which causes the star to move in the sky and periodically rise and fall above the horizon in the twilight region.
Native Lifeforms
Mani-Frant System
Frant, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.
No other world in the system is known to have native life.
Obess Subsystem
No world in the subsystem is known to have native life.
History & Background (Dossier)

World starport
Frant has a Class C Starport, an average quality installation which includes amenities including unrefined fuel for starships, some brokerage services for passengers and cargo, and a variety of ship provisions. There is a shipyard capable of doing maintenance and other kinds of repair. Ports of this classification generally have only a downport, unless this is a trade port or system with an hostile environment mainworld.
World technology level
Frant possesses a Technology Level of TL–10 or TL-A in Hexadecimal Notation.
- Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Holovision, Personal Global Communications, and advanced Translators.
- Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Increasingly advanced fusion plants and advanced fuel cells.
- Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
- Land & Water: Grav belts and maturing gravcraft.
- Air: Greatly improved hybrid grav-aircraft.
- Space: Improved interplanetary spacecraft (System Craft).
- FTL: Jump Drive-1.
World government
Frant has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
