Editing Forum:What author is asking for deletion of his material?

Thomas, could you elucidate the recent spate of deletions and nominations for deletion? I thought we had permission to extract information from GT material, and I can't see why articles like [[Andor (world)]] and [[Pixie (world)]] are infringing on any copyright (except, of course, Marc Miller's, but if we've lost his permission, the whole wiki is in violation). : All of the articles I changed or marked for deletion are direct text lifts from [[GURPS Traveller: Behind the Claw]]. While we have the right to extract information (names, dates, other facts) from the GT books we don't have the right make direct copy of chunks of text. It is in direct violation of SJGames [http://www.sjgames.com/general/online_policy.html online policy].  
: The reason this came up now is I finally got a copy of BtC and I found a few entries were copies and decided to check all of them. This is one of the less pleasant aspects of being an administrator. 
: I'm a little sensitive about this because of other discussion on the Wikia site (our host) about their enforcement of copyright. They are aggressive about shutting down Wikis which are violating copyrights (or other terms of service), especially if the Wiki administrators are slow in responding to the complaint.

On the subject of copyright, I've noticed that the article for DGP's WBH is cited as being copyright FFE. It's not; it's copyright Roger Sanger as is everything by DGP. I don't know what Sanger's stance is on ''"his"'' IP stuff being copied into this wikia, but I suspect we should be careful. -:::In the entries you edit (rather than delete), leave the source to BtC. Part of the point of the <nowiki>{{sources}}</nowiki> (at least to my mind), is to allow the reader to find the original text in context. If you don't think that's correct, I can update the text of the template.
