: The UserThrottle statement "Soft limit reached, please wait a few seconds" you encountered is an attempt to slow down the constant wave of spammers attempting to register, then create their crap pages.  This is an attempt to slow down the number of these attempts from several hundred per day to maybe 100 per day. I would like if anyone else encounters this on registration, please let me know.

and eventually tells me to wait a few seconds and try again. Unfortunately, it never gets beyond that point. Right now I'm using Google Chrome.

I'm going to leave this because it is a problem that may affect others.
The UserThrottle statement "Soft limit reached, please wait a few seconds" you encountered is an attempt to slow down the constant wave of spammers attempting to register, then create their crap pages. This is an attempt to slow down the number of these attempts from several hundred per day to maybe 100 per day. I would like if anyone else encounters this on registration, please let me know.
I have other spam fighting efforts I'm looking into and if this is becomes a real problem for people, I'll turn it off.
