Notes (2007)

This proposal should allow all of us to be happy regarding articles in time and space. Please read and comment, I really do want feedback on this.

• All articles will have a "era" category to indicate when they were "written". The following are the "canon" ones, and others can be added as needed:
  • Era: Interstellar Wars => GURPS IW
  • Era: Milieu 0 => T4 era
  • Era: Milieu 990 => T20 era
  • Era: Milieu 1116 => Classic Era
  • Era: Rebellion => Late MT
  • Era: New Era => TNE
  • Era: Milieu 1250 => TNE & 1248
  • Era: Milieu 1120 => GT Timeline

• If an article covers more than one era, you will need to create three (or more) pages

1. A base article which will (later) include all of the entries. Use the Traveller wiki naming policy to title this article.
2. An article for each era. Use a subpage for these articles, using the era descriptions above.

For example: Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi should cover Milieu 1116, Rebellion and Milieu 1120. So there should be the pages Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi/Milieu 1116, Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi/Rebellion, and Strephon Aella Alkhalikoi/Milieu 1120.

1. Create the base article first, but otherwise leave it blank.
2. Create the era sub-pages. Make sure to include the correct era category.
3. Edit the base article, and include as a level 1 heading (= =) the era's which the article covers. Under each heading include the text {{:{{PAGENAME}}/<era>}}. This will include the entire text of the era specific article in the base article.

You can be very sophisticated regarding the two articles (base and era) by using the <noinclude></noinclude> and the <onlyinclude></onlyinclude> to modify the era article and make it look different for the base article.

I would suggest enclosing the categories, espcially the era category, in a <noinclude></noinclude> tag to make sure people looking for the article will find the era specific one, rather than the all inclusive base article.

It doesn't work for me. The arrow changes to the I-beam shape when I put the cursor over the 'Click to see' area and no result when I click. Anything I need to do to enable me to get results?

It is likely browser specific. The link is javascript code, so you might need to tweak your security settings.

You may be clicking the wrong place. On the right side there is a little text "[show]" link, just above the "[edit]" link. Try clicking on the show link.

You are quite right. I found it. A very unassuming link. The hidden text shows up in a smaller font. Is that intentional?

The font size is, I assume, part of the complicated process to hide the text, we can fiddle with that, placement of the (show) area, centering, etc. The question is if a time specific article is presented this way, will this be okay to everyone? I would still like to follow up with themes or some other time mechanism as well, but this will be a start.
