This was a request made by Ronald B. Kline, Jr., to have the hit counters on each page restored.

Background: In the original version of the Mediawiki software, there was a hit counter for each page which counted how many times someone had clicked on the page. There were some limitations on the implementation, and the feature was removed in version 1.25. You can read the request and comments on this here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Requests_for_comment/Removing_hit_counters_from_MediaWiki_core

The Traveller wiki, using many of the default settings, had the page hit counter on the pages up until I upgraded the Mediawiki to 1.25 in November 2015.

There is a Hit counters extension which replaces the removed functionality, and to track user data in the wiki. I can install the extension and restore the functionality.

Personally I'm neutral on the subject. I agree with the reasoning behind the request. But I thought I'd ask the Traveller Wiki contributers what they thought. Tjoneslo (talk) 18:11, 7 January 2017 (EST)
