==Names==
I’d like to advocate for extending page name standards. We have ''Name (world)'' and ''Name (star)'' fairly consistent. I think we need ''Name (subsector)'', ''Name (sector)'', and ''Name (domain)'' too. I am sure I will find more. Fortunately we can do most of these using Mediawiki’s move tool which creates a redirect so that nothing is broken.

: The [[Manual_of_Style#Article_Naming_Conventions|naming convention]] covers this topic. Normally we like to follow the [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Article titles|Wikipedia naming conventions]]. This has the "name (x)" style used for disambiguation and not otherwise. The Sector names (using "name Sector") and Subector names (using "name Subsector") are used externally and should not be changed. ::: The original policy was to follow the Wikipedia sentence case standard, but was never consistently enforced (e.g. see Sector articles). In 2016/2017 Maksim unilaterally changed the policy to be Title Case, and moved most of the articles to match. I vastly prefer the sentence case but haven't spent the time/brain space to move articles to match. Which do you prefer? And how assertively do you think we be about moving the articles? ==Page Structure==
This wiki seems to have various types of information in it.
# Information about the real-world products relating to Traveller
# Information about game mechanics in Traveller
# Information for the in-game encyclopaedia

So if I look for ''Fifth Frontier War'' it's just as likely to find something about the Board Game as about the Conflict. Is there a simple way of splitting the information so that these three types are clearly delineated? Category doesn't seem to be the answer.

: 1. I think the ''Main namespace'' should be the in universe encyclopedia; the ''Traveller namespace'' should be the books, games, magazines, etc; what we currently are putting in Traveller belongs in the ''Help namespace'', and our guidelines say game mechanics aren’t supposed to be here at all.
: That way we can have [[Fifth Frontier War]] about the war and [[Traveller:Fifth Frontier War]] about the game, or [[Accelerator rifle]] about the rifle in universe and [[Traveller:Accelerator rifle]] if we do keep mechanics.
: 2. That said we can also intentionally delineate in a single page. In universe is at the top of the page and, after a bold horizontal rule (a standard template divider), any other supporting content like games, books, and mechanics.
: 3. The other way is what we do now in some places. In universe is [[Fifth Frontier War]] and the game would be [[Fifth Frontier War (game)]].

::Re [3]: That structure isn't currently consistent. [[Close Orbit and Airspace Control Command]] is in-game but [[COACC]] is not. [[Imperium]] is the game but {{Imperium}} is in-game.
::Re [2]: in page delineation is messy and there is already enough confusion with Era delineation. Where would citations end up? They are clearly in-life references on in-game pages. Where would categorisations end up?
::I agree with the sentiment for [1] re Traveller and Help spaces. While the guidelines says game mechanics aren't supposed to be here at all does that mean all the meta pages attached to ship designs are effectively verboten? Where should such pages belong?

::: In the original conception both the Ludography (the books) and the Library (and dictionaries) are part of the main namespace because they are equally important and primary to the mission of the wiki. See [[Traveller:About]]. So yes, there never was any plan to separate these two sets of articles. Part of the purpose of [[Colours]] was to provide a quick visual differentiator. The Ludography articles will all have a grey title box with the book or magazine cover, everything else uses a different color. 
::: The article naming for the Ludography articles very much uses the title of the books. The GURPS, MgT1, and MgT2 books all add a (non-namespace) prefix based on the Traveller version. E.g. GURPS Traveller books article names are all prefixed with "GURPS Traveller:". If you feel strongly about this, this pattern could be extended: "Classic Traveller:", "MegaTraveller:", "TNE:", and "Traveller D20:", "Marc Millers' Traveller:", and "Traveller 5th:". The reason this was done because the MgT and T5 books repeat the titles of earlier books, and the article titles need to be different.
::: For the Ship articles, using the Book 5 Universal Ship Profile in the metadata is walking a fine line. The elements of the USP are in-universe as well as game rules. The previous decision has been to allow the USP in the metadata, and leave them. For designs not using Book 5 rules, only the elements of the [[Template:InfoboxShip]] would be allowed.
