I have been working, intermittently and slowly, over the past several months to upgrade the MediaWiki software, the basis of the Traveller Wiki. In addition to the new software version (with bug fixes and upgrades), I've updated all the plugin versions to their latest version (more bug fixes and upgrades). Finally I've added a few new things as well. This is currently running flawlessly on my local machine, so testing everything as we went.

The process of upgrading the system on the TravellerWiki site (production upgrade) should, if it goes smoothly, take a few hours. This would require doing a database backup (just in case), loading the new software onto the system, performing the upgrade on the database, moving the images to the new software directory. During the process the wiki will be locked from editing and may or may not be available for reading.

I'm not planning on doing the upgrade this weekend, but probably by the end of August. I'll post here again just before I start the process. If there are specific questions, or preferences on dates, please let me know. Tjoneslo (talk) 19:02, 11 August 2018 (EDT)

Thank you.
