:I think that the jpeg gives a good overview of the sector, perhaps the resolution could even be lower and one would still see the lines, however clicking on it should load up the pdf. That way one gets the best of both.
 
:As for 2x2 quadrents, I would suggest generating the subsector maps individually (1x1) and attaching them to the subsectors.
