I've been doing some data collection off this wiki to try to straighten out duplicate world names, and I've noticed several things

  • Most (if not all) of the world lists (i.e. Neworld Sector/world list) are probably out of date with T5-SS data changes
    • My proposal is the world lists should be deleted; overwriting them could be done, but is most likely to result in some of them being overlooked.
  • I am uncertain which of the 142 sectors listed in here have gone through the T5-SS scrub and are now "canon". Is there an accurate list available on the wiki?
    • I know this should be available under Category:T5 Second Survey, but I am uncertain as to accuracy.

142 sectors leaves quite a few planets to scrub for duplicate names. The list so far includes Afawahisa though Fulani sectors and contains 15,635 distinct world entries (well there is some world data duplication; especially in the Vargr Extents).

  • In trying to use the two letter code for sector differentiation (i.e. SM = Spinward Marches), I ran into several issues.
    • Afawahisa and Aktifao are at the top of the list and would both be (Af 9999). So far I have not come across two worlds with the same name is similar hex locations - but that does not mean it could not happen once all of the worlds are in my spreadsheet.
    • I have a list of sectors and the two letter codes that I am currently using, but i'm not sure where to post it on this wiki.

Thoughts and input are appreciated. Ssteve (talk)

@Which sectors have been T5SSed - there isn't a list for that on this wiki yet, but you can look at TravellerMap, which shows which sectors have been covered by the T5SS.
@Two letter codes: Two worlds with the same name in the same hex location in sectors with the same abbreviation seems rather unlikely... but anyway, T5 has started using four-letter codes for sectors, so that might be useful. Also, there's already an overview of two letter codes used on this wiki at Sector Map. 77topaz (talk) 05:47, 19 February 2016 (EST)
The Sector Map page does have the best list of codes. And there are overlaps (Da is used for four different sectors). Which is specifically why the T5SS uses four letter codes. But the two letter code + Hex location thus far has proven to be unique. Tjoneslo (talk) 06:09, 19 February 2016 (EST)
The world list pages were generated using the existing data set, long prior to the T5 Second survey. The data presented on those pages is both out of date and no longer useful. These pages should be either be updated or purged. Tjoneslo (talk) 06:09, 19 February 2016 (EST)
The Category: T5 Second Survey should be the accurate list of reviewed sectors. That was it's original intent. And the Category: T5 Second Survey worlds is the list of worlds which have been revived and approved (and inserted into the wiki). Tjoneslo (talk) 06:09, 19 February 2016 (EST)
