I have thought about possible additions to the LE and LEN tags. Currently the tag just supports categorization we could leverage this for other wiki-wide vales. For example an article rating value, we could specify a rating for each article e.g. rating=I where U(nrated) would be the default, and others could be I(ncomplete), B(asic), G(ood), E(xcellent), L(ong). This could auto-generate the appropriate clean-up templates as well. We could use this to select excellent articles randomly for the front page. If there are any other ideas, (I am sure I had more than just the one), let me know too. Dcorrin 23:04, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Rather than add this to the LE/LEN/LEA/DE/DEN templates, I recommend adding this to it's own template. The idea being that if you or I needs to go through a edit the article to add a bad rating to it, we might be encouraged to fix the article at the same time. But I like the idea of doing a rating.
I also like the idea of a nominate for feature article template. (or has been nominated for feature article). Usually I just hit random page until a good looking article appears and use that for the feature articles. Tjoneslo 14:40, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
The advantage of leveraging the existing template with a default value is that we don't need to go and manually edit 7,000+ articles. If the template is not there already then people will usually not add it, however if they see something that they think is not correct (e.g. a favorite article with an un-rated notice on it), then I believe that they are more prone to edit the article and change the value. A better solution, but I am not certain how to do it, would be to have the default LE/LEN template add a unrated box only if it doesn't see a rating template in the article. Using (U)nrated MAY get confusing to readers. Are you suggesting that the Catagories section say something like Rated: U/G/E/L/what-have-you? I also see this as a good idea, but we should make it understandable to your typical reader. Just my two centicredits. Rycharde 23:25, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
