Ross 619 is one of the closest stars to Terra, a mere three jumps away in Gemini subsector. Its main world, Forlorn, is one of three Garden-class worlds (the others being Inferno and Calgary) in the dead-end Rimward Pocket. Unfortunately all three are flawed and unpleasant in one or more ways. Both Inferno and Forlorn have too much carbon dioxide, making it impossible for Humans to breathe without aid. While Inferno suffers in the usual steamy manner for having an excess of greenhouse gas, Forlorn arrived at its state in a peculiar way, which makes it interesting to many Confederation scientists.
