History & Background (Dossier)
Feneteman was unpopulated until 1100, when a survey sponsored by Ling-Standard Products discovered deposits of lanthanum. When the concentration was deemed insufficient for commercial mining, LSP released the survey report to the public and offered to rent prospectors equipment in return for an interest in any discoveries. The offer has been sufficient to maintain a small population of fortune seekers on the world, but without visible results. [2]
In 1110, shortly after the end of the Fifth Frontier War, a Kforuzeng raider, badly damaged in an encounter with Imperial forces at Nasemin (Spinward Marches 3003) jumped into the system. At the time there was a K'kree merchant delegation visiting the world at the invitation of LSP. The resulting confrontation caused a minor diplomatic incident.
A raid in 1119 by a Vargr fleet destroyed the orbital port before attempting to plunder the world. The fleet was scattered by pursuing Imperial Navy vessels. [3]
