System Data

Erisun System

The primary is Phoebe, an ordinary yellow-white main sequence star. It has a luminosity of 1.668 Sols, a mass of 1.092 Sols, and a diameter of 1.536 million km. The inner system consists of (I) a trace atmosphere inner world, (II) a vacuum worldlet, and (III) a corrosive atmosphere inferno world. (IV) Erisun orbits within the habitable zone and is designated the mainworld. (V) a thin atmosphere hospitable world, (VI) a ringed small gas giant, (VII) a ringed large gas giant, (VIII) a small ice giant and (IX) a vacuum iceworld form the outer system. Many of the worlds retain satellites.

Mainworld Data

(IV) Erisun

(IV) Erisun is designated the mainworld. It orbits Phoebe at a mean distance of 1.08 AU (161.6 million km), within the habitable zone. It has an orbital period of 1 year 27 days and a rotation period of 24.5 hours. The axial tilt is 14 degrees. Erisun has a diameter of 13,022 km, a density of 5.52 g/cm³, and a surface gravity of 1.02 G. The world is geologically active. Its atmosphere is rated as Standard, Tainted, with a mean surface pressure of 1.02 bar and a composition of 68% nitrogen (N2), 30% oxygen (O2), 1% argon (Ar), and 1% water vapor (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), ozone (O3), neon (Ne) and other trace gases. The atmospheric taint is caused by the high percentage of atmospheric oxygen. Approximately 54% of the surface is covered in oceans of liquid water: average tidal ranges exceed 0.4m. Mean surface temperature: 21°C. The climate is rated as Temperate-Warm and experiences minor seasonal changes during the local year. The atmosphere is dynamic and strong weather systems driven by the star drive across the globe. The climate is seasonal.

Satellite

Erisun retains a single natural satellite, an ice-capped vacuum worldlet named Falaise:

(IVa) Falaise (UWP Y201000-0, orbiting Erisun at 25 Diameters/325,000 km)

Mainworld Geography and Topography

Total surface area: 533 million km², Water surface area: 287 million km², Land surface area: 246 million km².

  • The atmospheric taint, caused by the high levels of atmospheric oxygen, is dangerous. Breathing the atmosphere without suitable filtration equipment will cause oxygen narcosis and oxygen toxicity. Symptoms include sensations of euphoria and nausea, seizures, bouts of physical rigidity followed by convulsions and unconsciousness, breathing difficulties, damage to the lungs and the heart, and death.

Native Lifeforms

Erisun, the mainworld, has extensive native life, consisting of microscopic organisms, stromatolite-parallels and primitive flora that can be found in almost every ecological niche. Their metabolic functions drive the process of atmospheric renewal.

The cold marginally hospitable world lying in orbital position (V) has primitive native life, consisting entirely of microscopic cyanobacteria-parallels that exist in any location where they can find even a minimal trace of shelter and warmth. Their metabolic functions maintain the process of atmospheric renewal.

No other world in the system is known to have native life.

History & Background (Dossier)

No information yet available.

World starport

Erisun does not have a starport. The Class X Starport is an indication that no starport exists in the system. There are no facilities or services available, and no site marked for landing.

World technology level

Erisun possesses a Technology Level of TL–0.

  • These worlds often contain a Proto-Sophont species beginning to establish a nascent civilization and society.
  • This world is in its Alpha Period and has not yet been interfered with by a higher technology civilization.
  • Common Communication technologies for this TL include: Bodily communicative apparati, courier-runners, and smoke signals.
  • Common Power Generation technologies for this TL include: Bodily muscle.
  • Common Transportation technologies for this TL include:
    • Land: Bodily locomotion, riding beasts, and litters or sedan chairs.
    • Water: Swimming, rafts, and canoes.
    • Air: Typically not available unless a bodily ability.

World government

Erisun has no central government for the world, an Anarchy. The largest governmental structure would be a family, tribe, or single clan. The largest group will be between 50 and 100 individuals, and there may be dozens to hundreds of them. This governmental structure can be stable over long periods of time if the population remains small or geographically separated.
