The Empress Wave is a psionic effect started corewards of the Zhodani consulate several centuries before the end of the 3rd Imperium and expanding rimwards with the speed of light.

First rumors of the Wave reached the imperium during the Fourth Frontier War pointing to severe problems in the upstate of the Zhodani Consulte. The effect of Wave was further researched by project Longbow by Strephons CSB scout service.

Several projects been launched, when Strephon realised the devasting effect of the Empress Wave. The goal of the Avery project was to genetic engineer a human with high psionic powers to research the Empress Wave. The goal of the Computer Augmented Behavior Alteration project was to use SaSAGs Better than Life technology to control a human crew during transits within the Empress Wave. And the distribution of JumpStart caches started for the case, that new knowledge gained by Avery could not solve the Empress Wave problem.
