History & Background (Dossier)

Eldritch is an agricultural world located in New Holland Subsector of Alpha Crucis Sector.

  • A Prison World, exile camp, or prison camp for criminals or other exiles is located upon this world in addition to other points of interest.
  • The system is a member of the Solomani Confederation and is under military rule; it has been assigned an Amber Zone travel advisory.
  • Eldritch is a Solomani prison planet for political undesirables, and is managed by the Ministry of Justice from a high-security orbital facility. All prisoners are sterilized and tagged with transmitters before being allowed down to the surface where they live in agricultural prison-farm communes. Security is moderate on the planet itself but very heavy at the Starport. Prisoners harvest the deep indigo-colored local plants, some of which have commercially valuable pharmaceutical properties.
  • Some prisoners have chosen to escape into the wild, but only expert survivalists can survive for long in the exotic alien environment. An edible native fungi, if eaten raw, induce a gradual but severe deterioration of the language and reasoning centers of the brain—this may have given rise to stories of cannibalistic ‘Human Apes’ living in the wild.
